Then they should at least let us know. I understand that nothing can be 24/7, I would just appreciate if they could be forthright, then I would understand. ie, "sorry guys due to x, y and z we have to shut down for a couple of hours" no sweet, I can then watch Boca crush Germio with a piece of mind, not wondering when the RIM Gods will turn the switch back on.

Does anyone have access to the portion of RIM's site that would announce an outage?

I feel lost without my email..... :(

I'm located in Northern California and on AT&T.

Brief BIS outage was confirmed. All networks have been reset and are back online. Push email network is up and running. RIM claimed unexpected maintenance...which could mean an infinite # of things.

I still say RIM should have a network status page, or a schedule for people to see when routine maintenance is. There is no excuse for these things to happen, especially when your job involves being available to chinese, australian, and european suppliers 24/7.

That site is not officially run by RIM. Chances are, it was so brief that no one took the time to go up on it and write about it. There was a confirmed outage, only for an hour or two. The actual cease of emails was not for that long...the longest part of the outage was just the delay of emails.

Everything is back up and running, however T-Mobile has confirmed there is a "quirk" in their system involving the 8700g in a particular location in Pennsylvania. The area that is affected is Exton, PA. Engineers are still looking into the issue and will have a solution by the end of the day tomorrow. See this thread for more information:
