I am on a 6 month free trial of Co-Pilot.
I like it and will probably buy it at the end of the trial.

Co Pilot wasn't accurate in my area. It wasn't long before I thought free was the right price.

Telenav 5.5 aka ATT Navigator is the best IMO. It now dl's the entire route and just plain the works. The others all have their issues IMO.

What did you not like about Co-Pilot?

So for someone (me) that will only "really" use it probably 1-2 a month and the rest of the time just for kicks (for me and the kids) is it worth the $9.99/mo.?

Any of these will get you where you want to go.

You may also want to try the spoken turn-by-turn in Live Search (also free).
I will respectfully disagree. Here is what happened when I replaced Telenav with the ATT version.

First off. I couldn't get it to sync with My Favorites on the Telenav website and I could never get it to sync. I didn't feel like entering over 100 favorites by hand.

Second. When I wanted to access "change origin" from address book, or wanted to plot the distance between points in my address it would triple load all my contacts. If I chose a second point from my address book it would triple load again many times crashing.

The graphics on the ATT version of Telenav are outstanding, but the minuses caused me to unload the ATT version and re-install the Telenav 5.1 version.

I bought the 4 year plan so my monthly cost is only about $5/month.

So you're saying you like the standalone TeleNav over the ATT version?

Very much. I had several bugs with the ATT version. And I am a ATT customer.

I have used the Telenav version in Hawaii, Texas, Washington, DC, and both northern and southern California.

It has been of such great use when I am on the road that I stopped carrying my stand alone GPS unit because I am that happy with my BB fulfilling that purpose.

Yea, its hard for me to be disappointed with Nav4All, as it is free. However, it just doesnt do what I want it to do.

I want to be able to save my addresses and pull from address from my contacts and have a map view of my travel, as i am traveling along with voice turn-by-turn. Nav4All does this, but I want to see the street names that I am passing, my distance for the next turn, total distance and my MPH. TeleNav does all this? And I can choose between Satellite, Map and Hybrid views? Also, could I have coordinates displayed as well?

Telenav doesn't do all the things you mention. I rarely have need for those features, but I will check it out.

I asked - the "lifetime fee" is for the lifetime of the handset with that owner

So we just had a Scavenger Hunt at work and one of the hunts had us point out some POI's via given coordinates. The only GPS software I currently have installed is Nav4All. It actually wasnt bad, I tried to input the coordinates, but it got a little picky, so I mapped my current location and moved the cursor to the coordinates. Then all I had to do was hit the options button and hit "Drive To It". It wasnt bad. So for that scenario, Nav4All worked out, but I am still in the hunt for my daily driving use. Installing AmazeGPS as we speak, we'll be in touch...

Now I have an 8GB microSD card so I do have the ability to Download maps to my BB, do any of these programs allow you to download maps?

Apparently, the garmin program has 2gigs of maps.

Trekbuddy and another program allow you to download maps using other tools and then copy them to your card. I guess the issue for these are - how many maps or wide and area do you want to cover?

very true, so after reading and reading threads upon threads, I have added a few to my search. I have downloaded and installed:

Garmin Trial
Mobile GMaps
Live Searcher

I will hopefully find a winner by the end of the weekend.

I have only tried two of them (both are non subscription, I hate subscription anythings hehe), Wayfinder 7 ($99) and Garmin Mobile ($99).

I am extremely pleased with Garmin Mobile, after having used Wayfinder 7 for about a year.

ota.telenav.com/ota/tnatt/

Use your WAP browser. From some reason I couldn't get the link to work on my regular browser.

It too was not accurate in my area. I lead a group of cars to White Fence farm (great chicken) and that thing had us so lost I had to switch to Google Maps to find the place.

I am coming to the conclusion there is levels of GPS service these maps can get. Free might get them basic routing data but when they pay they get the full monte. This might also be what happened with Beyond411. I figure the large companies like Google and Microsoft run their own servers which is why they can offer free applications. The free maps really don't seem very accurate.
