upgrading to BIS 2.0

Here are some of the upgrades

Improved integration with your e-mail accounts
-All Yahoo! Mail accounts, including free accounts, are now supported. No need for Yahoo! POP3 access to get your Yahoo! Mail delivered.

-E-mails to your Yahoo! Mail account are "pushed" to the handheld in real time.

-E-mails sent, received, or deleted on your handheld will reflect changes at the original e-mail account no need to manage the same e-mail account from two different places.

-E-mails sent from your handheld will show the correct "Sent From" e-mail address, even with multiple e-mail accounts consolidated to the BlackBerry device.

-All account management functions like adding new e-mail accounts, managing filters and auto-signatures, can be performed directly from your BlackBerry handheld by clicking the Set Up Internet E-mail icon.

-There will be no storage space limitation on e-mails sent to your BlackBerry Internet E-mail mailbox (username@tmo.blackberry.net), but those e-mails will be removed from the server after 30 days. You will have full access to e-mail content including attachments for the 30 days, regardless of the size of the files. After the 30 days, you will still have access to e-mails that are on the handheld, but not to attachments.

-Filters have been re-designed based on customer feedback. Filters are an optional feature to control which e-mails are sent to the handheld. Existing filters will need to be re-created after the upgrade.
Based on customer feedback Out of Office Reply and Auto Forward features have been eliminated.

-The Auto BCC feature will not be eliminated as part of this upgrade, and your Auto BCC settings will be automatically saved during the upgrade.

It would be nice if Nextel would implement this new BIS.

*Sighs*

Rumor is end of April. I have heard that on the Cingular board and here too. I know it's in testing. It should would be good to know for sure. See my gmail/yahoo page which reflects some of the reasons in the third post here.

Default Verizon Update

Seems Verizon has already implemented the new BIS (although they are waiting until Monday 4/10 to announce). When accessing the BIS via the web or on the BB you are being asked about upgrading. Discussion in the General and 7100 forum.

So I logged into my Cingular account this morning and the original link:

https://webclient.blackberry.net/Web...ite=mycingular

now forwards to:

https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular

BUT, upon logging in, it's the same old web client we know and "love". Could this mean the upgrade is coming VERY soon?? I surely hope so!!

YES!!! They have done it!! Cingular has upgraded to BIS 2.0!!

I have just logged into my account and gone through with the upgrade. If anyone is hesitant on the upgrade, I will be your guinea pig and answer any questions and report any bugs/annoyances I find.

Enjoy!!!

Default Is the upgrade to BIS 2.0 recommended?

I have been considering the upgrade, but wanted to see if other users would recommend the upgrade and if there were any comments. I am using BIS 1.8 on Cingular with POP access to my gmail account. It has been pretty good up until the last week and for some reason I went about 5 days with no e-mail then went into my BIS profile and deleted my POP account and then created it again. About an hour later I got all the email that I had missed.

Thanks,
CHip

I have not upgraded. See my tips page where I discuss some of the differences. I really like folders and you loose those with 2.0. If you are not on Cingular/Yahoo like me, you get instant push from Yahoo/Gmail etc so you have to decide.
