I really would like to give it a look, but it doesn't seem like I can without purchasing it. From what I've seen on Garmin's site, there is only one or two screenshots to even look at. Even a 5 day demo like Wayfinder provides is enough to get the feel of the app. I've used gps for years, so I usually know with one or two uses if I like the software or not.

In case anyone is thinking they can "evaluate" someone elses software with a generic "puck" or aerial, you might be sadly surprised to find out that Garmin have been protecting their map software with keys that are related to the aerial serial number. I have had Garmin Streetpilots for years and this meant you couldnt share maps easily.

I'm hoping that swifty didn't misunderstand me - I'd like to be able to download Garmin's software legitimately from their site and sign up for a temporary serial, login or whatever to use it for a few days. I'm not going to shell out $99 for navigation software that I can't see first. Just like I wouldn't mail order a car without seeing it or driving it first to make a decision. It isn't like it would be easy to find a current user and hang out with them on a trip or 2 to see it work.

Garmin is a joke for BB at this point. They don't respond to emails and live only in hyperspace. I will be noting that on my GPS review page shortly if they don't repsond in the next day.

Default Garmin evaluations

No I didnt misunderstand or that you were trying to not pay for the maps - just wanted to let you know that unless they have a way of tieing the maps to a receiver ID they dont license them, and I may be wrong but havent heard them doing a time limited trial of their maps. Harsh I know but thats Garmin for you.

swifty,

My understanding is that Garmin Mobile is a Sprint licensed product and Garmin Mobile 10 & Garmin Mobile 20 is for other Bluetooth enabled BlackBerry devices.

I don't know how, but I had a three day trial and bought it after two days of using it. It really is a great program.

Are you on Sprint? I can't tell you how disappointing I find Garmin from a customer support standpoint. They are really a joke right now IMO.

Same thing now I think from Garmin's perspective. They told MrKyoo that its licensed to sprint, but why does their web page show a bundled product, and WHY don't they respond when asked questions. Bozos Big Time Circus Show is what they are. This product is IMmobile so I am renaming the thread.

Does the Garmin Imobile product work with the pearl? It doesn't seem to say it does on the Garmin website.

Don't even think about this product yet. Garmin is very lame in the BB world right now and they are so UNRESPONSIVE in terms of customer service.

I could not get a straight answer from Garmin. They completely answered around specific questions regarding their software.

I would recommend trying a different product for your GPS needs.

This is the email I got back from Garmin after about 3 days.

"Thank you for contacting GARMIN International. I would be happy to help you
with this!

Good evening! Thank you for your interest in our units.
Unfortunately, the 8100 (Pearl) is not a supported phone as of yet We are,
however, working on this and should have support on this phone soon. Thank
you for your patience in this matter and have a great night!"
