You don't need any certain BES version in order for OS 4.5 to work. However, BES mail doesn't support html email until BES v4.1.6

I am running an AT&T 8800 and based in the US but currently in Australia. Roaming okay, VPN and sync'd fine and expect no issues, any one got a reason to suggest I'd have problems doing the upgrade while here?

Well I took the plunge and uipgrade went well. Notice the moonscape pic is no longer there and sadly, I thought it was one of the better backgrounds. Anyone have it to send?

Did you check the box in the application loader for "Blackberry Attachment Service?"

Let me check it right now, thanks for the suggestion. Mr Bean you're a gem, fantastic it works .... ! NOT!
It lets me see the attachments but when I click on them to open them there is no activity whatsoever!
I just noticed that after I did the update the DM gave me a message that an error had occured and that it had to be closed; any ideas?

UPDATE:

I was just looking over some files and I noticed that the file I downloaded which was supposedly 4.5.052 is actually this file

XXXXX 4.5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55 XXX.XX.X.X.XX

so now I am completely confused ...

I just looked in the handheld and it says v4.5.0.37 platform 2.7.0.55!

I still cannot get all attachments to open! Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for a fix?

Every program seems to work fine!

I have made/received a few phone calls (long ones) without the calls dropping!

The trackball was not lighting up all the time, but after a battery that appears to work just fine!

Also, is there a check-list that could be used to verify that all the settings after the OS upgrade are correct for optimal function?

Update went fine in my own Blackberry 8800. Much improved!!

A user I support was having issues with battery life on his 8800. After I did the normal fixes short of reloading the OS I figured since he was using whatever t-mobile put on it 9 months ago I figured I'd update to 4.5 on this one as well. Result was constant reboots. His use of the device is email checking and an occasional phone call so there's no odd applications loaded, MicroSD cards in use or anything of the sort. I reloaded it once with his original backups and once clean. Same issue.

I downgraded him to the latest OS that T-Mobile provides and the device is working fine. I'm not going to pursue it any farther with that unit considering his usage of it.

Very strange that there should be such a difference.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get my BB 8800 to play music through the auxiliary input jack in my car stereo system?

Yes. You'll need a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, though. You can get one at www.seidioonline.com

My wife uses her Pearl all the time in the car.

The adapters from Radio Shack don't work. Yes, you need one specifically for the BB. The link I posted above will get you one that works.

I just bought a Motorola T505 Bluetooth adapter for the car. Transmit audio and music to the car stereo. I'm very very pleased with it.

OK... so I must be totaly lost... maybe its cuz I'm a bit green on hacking my BB compared to some of you in the forum... but is there any chance on getting some help or suggestions?

I tried the upgrade, love the spell check, but other than the spell check it seems to have been a BIG waste of 4 hours and a massive amount of frustration.

according to horizonwirelessonline.com

apparently as of June 07, 2008:

8800 4.5.0.52 release 75

If I can't get my problems solved, how do I go back to my old version?
