Question Duplicate PIN

Please Login to Remove!

I am confused, I just recently bought a used 8100 Pearl for one of my employees that lost their device. The phone has been upgraded to OS 4.5 and reset to factory. The phone works fine as a telephone and has an internet connection however I send or receive email and cannot PIN to or from the device... now here is the rub, I have sent a PIN to the device from my Bold and I got a reply back from someone identified as Ceb saying that the PIN belonged to him??? I thought that a PIN was tied to the device forever but either the device is reporting its PIN incorrectly or there are duplicate PIN's or someone has figured out how change the PIN number in this used device I bought but so far no one at ATT can help and the people at RIM are baffled so far as well. Anyone out there have a clue?

Thanks

Go to options and look at status to make sure the pin on the box and the pin on the phone match.

Yes they do, the labels on the inside of the device show the PIN, "status" shows the PIN and device info from the Blackberry master control program also shows the same PIN.

You can try composing an SMS and just type the word "mypin" all together and then a space. That should also display the pin and allow it to be copied and pasted exactly as it shows.

Did you say that the E-mail is working?! That is very odd because the E-mail is delivered directly to the PIN. That is a very strange issue you're having.

I tried the mypin trick and came up with the same PIN number, thanks anyway. I have reread my original post and realized that I was unclear, email does not work, service books will not arrive, pin messages do not work.
RIM has just informed us that this problem is impossible, I agree except it is happening.

I will let you know if we come to a resolution.
