Default Bold 9700 Pairing Codes different

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,
I've just bought a cheap BT dongle, and tried to set up BT from laptop (vista)to my 9700.
Both come up with pairing codes - but they're different. No other blue-tooth devices near, and anyway I've renamed the devices so I know its the correct one. Why are they always different codes???

Most BT headsets are 0000 and most smartphones are 00000000.

Is that what you are getting and using?

Angry Pairing Codes different

Hi Dubdub.
I'm using Vista Home Premium and Bluetooth 2.0 dongle, but don't get the option to enter my own pairing code. It goes straight to a generated 8-digit code, and asks if the phone has received the same code. It always receives a different 8-digit code.
The same happens in reverse from phone to pc.
Looking on the internet, most answers involve the pc allowing you to create your own code (usually 0000), but mine won't.
I've also walked down the garden to try, in case another BT device is interfering.

thanks...
