In OS5, you could change the browser type from 'blackberry browser' to 'internet browser'. The Blackberry Browser setting was useful for me for accessing web resources on our internal corporate network (I'm on a BES), but it also meant all traffic was filtered through our Websense enterprise firewall, which blocks access to some resources (like facebook.com). Changing the configuration to Internet Browser allowed my browser to bypass Websense. I regularly changed from one configuration to another, depending on what I resource I was accessing.

How do I change this configuration in OS6? The browser apparently is using the blackberry browser configuration, as I'm frequently encountering my Websense security.

It is possible the IT group limited access to only the browser they can filter.
Did you look in all the folders for a different selection. It might be under a folder you have not checked.

Thanks penguin3107, It seems like the IT people can easily control selection now based on the info from RIM. Too bad they did not keep the options open to allow bypass.

In BB6 there is no longer an option to select the browser identity--not in BIS anyway.
