Question 8830 won't receive email attachments

Please Login to Remove!

I've set 2 clients up with 8830's, syncing to BB Desktop (latest version).

Issue: Both 8830's will not receive email attachments (no paper clip on envelope). Redirector sends and receives mail normally, but emails that should have attachments are only noted in the email; (1 Attachment) listed at the header, and (file name) listed at the bottom.

I've tried on both to highlight & cursor the attachment text; then click the options button or scroll ball to open menu hoping there would be an option to download or view email, but those option are never available.
The attachment service is installed and running on both as I see it.

Any halp would be very appreciated!

I do not believe that the "Re-Director" will send attachments. You will need to set-up on BIS or BES. I could be wrong but I think that is the issue.

Is your Email accessable via the Web? If so, then try disabling the re-director. Then login to your carriers BIS site.

Link should be something like BIS.NA.Blackberry.com/HTML?brand="Carrier abbreviation"

EDIT - the link for Verizon is https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw

Create an account and follow the directions for setting up you email account.

Nope - Only syncing with Outlook 2000 email client on desktop. Can corporate email be routed through BIS? Sorry only familiar with BES.

If your corporate email is available via POP, IMAP, or OWA then you can access it via BIS. I believe that attachments need to be processed by either BIS or BES before you can access them on a BB. Redirector or desktop manager synch won't work. BES or BIS does some reformatting of the attachment so the BB can use it.

But if he is on BES the viewing attachments should not be an issue....If he is set-up on BES correctly there should be no need for the re-director at all.

Correct - their email is POP via their ISP, using Outlook 2000. I plan to move their email to a hosted exchange environment w/ BES. Is it worth the trouble to configure BIS for a couple weeks use?

Thanks

I would say yes as it only takes a couple of minutes to set-up and to disable when you migrate to BES. Additionally, there may be other personal accounts you wish to forward to the BB and with BIS you can push up to 10.

Good Luck!
