Default Log retention periods

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Can you tell me if it's possible to have different retention periods for server (debug) logs and user logs (call, sms and pin).

I'd like to keep the sms, call and pin logs indefinitely, but am not so interested in what the blackberry alert service was doing 2 years ago.

Thanks

Default Re: Log retention periods

If you go into Blackberry Solution Topology>Blackberry Domain>Component View>Logging>yourserver and click on the Logging tab, you can set the time in days that the BES retains most of the logs (maximum age).

As I understand it though you cannot set a maximum age for the SMS, call or PIN logs, along with the MDS (MDAT) logs.

What this means is that you can set all of the debug logs to have a maximum age of, say, 30 days, and the logs you're interested in will still stay forever.

We have a scheduled tasks that deletes these "indefinite" logs after 6 months.

EDIT: this is assuming you're using BES 5. I believe you can do the same with BES 4 but I can't give you details for that.
