Default Birthday shows on BB wrong

Please Login to Remove!

Dear All,

I have an interesting but weird problem with one of my BB user.

He entered birthdays in his Outlook contacts, they have synchronized fine to his BB contacts but all birthdays are moved one day.

Example:

birthday in Outlook for the contact: June 8, 1969
birthday on BB for the contact: June 7, 1969

I deleted all service book with the name of Desktop on his BB so far to force a new synchronization on his BB.

Any idea why it happens systematically and not randomly?

Thank you
Edy

Are the appts set as 'all day' appts or with a specific time?

My husband has the same thing on his device. Date/Time settings are correct. He uses desktop manager to push his contacts to his device. In outlook the contacts birthdays show up on the correct day, but they dont show up on his device on the correct day, they are all a day ahead.

What do you mean with "appts"? The calendar?

Birthdays are entered in the contacts in Outlook and not in the calendar as well. Contacts are synchronized using BES over wireless.

Thanks

We see the same problem. Actually when you enter the birthday in a contact, Exchange auto-creates an all-day re-occuring appointment in the calendar. When we activate a BB, it syncs the calendar perfectly, but all the birthdays are one hour off which shifts them to the previous day, so instead of

April 3, 00:00 - 00:00

it shifts to

April 2, 23:00 - 23:00

I'm from Switzerland too.

Do you know if RIM is aware of the issue? I think I will try to contact RIM tech support, if it's possible at all from Switzerland.

Thanks

Yes, we contact RIM support all the time from Switzerland (we are an alliance partner). We have seen that this problem vanished since we switched to BES 5.0.1 MR3 and to the latest 9700 firmware.

All day appointments are set with a specific time - it's one of those oddities in Outlook - every appointment has a start and end time, all day appointments simply assign the times automically (midnight to midnight). It's a frustrating problem to have within a company that exists in more than one time zone since when you refer to something as all day, you're referring to the day, not a 24 hour period.

I'm in the UK and have the same problem. 9700. Running 5.0.0.680 firmware and on a BIS, not BES.

I wonder if it is the firmware on the device? The device we have is a curve 8900.
