Default Marine GPS Software?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8310 with AT&T. In about a month I will be renting a boat and was curious what software everyone recommends for GPS while on a boat. Are there any good ones? Free ones? I guess I could just use TeleNav to mark locations via Lat/Lon so I know where I'm going unless there is something better.

Thanks

Thanks for the offer but not sure that you have every body of water memorized in Florida.

The built-in GPS will give you fixes anytime you need them. Just plot them on your marine charts and you have everything you need.

As a heavy marine user of GPS, I would go and buy a decent GPS or rent one.

I'm only going to be on the boat for a day so it isn't worth it to buy/rent a GPS. Could you also elaborate on The built-in GPS will give you fixes anytime you need them. Just plot them on your marine charts and you have everything you need.?

Go to Settings ->Advanced Options -> GPS, then press the option button and select Refresh GPS to get a current fix. Then, find this location (LAT/LON) on your charts and you are navigating by GPS.

Did you find any Marine (downloadable charts) software for your Curve?

Garmin made some software for PPC at one time for Maritime use, but I have not checked to see if the might support BB yet. You might also try Trimbel.

May be you should check out the demo version of Spot. You can deactivate the maps and you don't pay data charges anymore The demo version is fully featured but comes with a 5 minute runtime limitation. You can restart the app as often as you want. so if you are just looking for an app that marks points etc. you can use the demo: Spot
