Default Music on Bluetooth on Bold?

Please Login to Remove!

How can I listen to my music using my Plantronics 665 bluetooth earpiece on my new Bold? Granted, my b/t is only mono, but I don't care. Why can I talk on my b/t, but I can't listen to my music on it?

EDIT: My Plantronics 665 doesn't support A2DP. If it did, I could listen to music on it as well as use it for voice calls. A Plantronics 855 or 260 would. There are many others that would too.

Sadly, I own three (3) Plantronics 665s. I rotate them so I always have plenty of battery. I have chargers in my office, car and home. It's so comfortable, I forget I'm wearing it. I don't have to use an over-the-ear clip, which interferes with my eyeglasses. It stays secure enough with merely an in-ear gel, that I can ride 30 miles on my bike and never lose it. I really hate the thought of giving that up and starting over.

However, I might if I could find an in-ear only (no over the ear clip) bluetooth with A2DP and AVRCP that is Multi-Homed, so I can also use it with a b/t office phone... well then it would be worth the expense of switching.

I wonder how long your battery will last.

Bluetooth profiles dictate what functions a Bluetooth device can handle/control. In the case of your Plantronics 665, when you connect the two, I assume you only get "Handsfree" in the available services window. This means media and stereo audio is not available by default.

Absolutely correct. Most people assume that because one thing is Bluetooth and so is another it can talk to each other. Not the case. They have what are called profiles and each profile supports a different feature. have a read at Bluetooth profile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia it explains it very well. So most likely as Shaun explained your headset only supports the headset Profile not handsfree profile (Bluetooth profile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) audio is very compressed and crappy tinny sounding like a blown speaker. You could stream your audio to it most likely but it would sound so bad because of the compression you would kill yourself.

Have a look at the profiles BT supports and then look at your BT settings on your phone. Find the paired device in the list and select device properties and under services it should list roughly in the same terms as the profiles listed on Wiki what it can do. hope this helps
