Ok need help with a crazy ex wife. I need to be able to block txt msgs but keep calls coming through. She needs to be able to call when I have our son. Or if something happens to him. But I don't need anymore BS txts from her. Anyone know of a program. I looked on the App World and didn't find one for just txt. Help me out.

There aren't any apps that I can think of, however, you can call Verizon and ask them to block messages from her specific number.

Maybe you could just get yourself one of those cheap, throw away phones like TracFone for her calls, then change the number on your BB. I know it sounds "round-the-way", but it's an option to keep in mind.

Try looking at Options > Security Options > Firewall (may be slightly different depending on OS...) to set Block Incoming Messages. While you cannot specify address to block, you can block all SMS or MMS Except messages from Contacts or Specific addresses (i.e., white list as opposed to blacklist).

Hope this helps...

Man that totally worked. Set it to block all SMS except from people in my contacts, then I just took her off my contact list. Thank you, saved the day on that one.

You can also go to myverizon on the website and place the number to be blocked.

I use Message Alerts, which would allow just this sort of rules-based filtering.

Sometimes I feel like a shill for them, but I'm not affiliated. It really gives me very precise control of which messages, SMS, pins, and phone call alerts I get and when. It's not perfect, but it works really well for me.

Yeah I know right, I was hoping for the ability to send back a message saying "f" off I don't want to talk to you. But it has worked so far using that firewall, even shows the number of txts it blocks.

I use AutoTXTBak, this program will automatically reply to incoming text msg's and blocks them. It also allows you to set up a list of numbers that are allowed for text. This means that the allowed list are handled normally while blocking the rest. I had the same problem with my first exwife.

Here would be my auto-reply:

"We're sorry, but this phone no longer accepts messages from crazy-arsed biatches."

Probably get a nice rise out of her, no?
