Question Dropped my phone, sound is awful

Please Login to Remove!

Dropped my 8320 onto a cement floor the other day, and now the sound is all crackly - for both me and the caller on the other end.

The crackling and static coincide with my putting any pressure on the phone - like adjusting its position against my ear, or shifting my grip on the sides.

The real pain in the butt is, it's new - my old one was stolen and this replacement arrived not even a month ago yet! It's another $90 deductible to replace it again. For that, I could pick up a new unlocked one on eBay.

Is there any way to fix this, or do I need to start shopping?

Thanks!

You'll most likely have to start shopping. My guess is some connection between the speaker and the main board may have been moved slightly and that may make the speaker crackle a little bit. The 8520 is a good upgrade from the 8320 or you could go for the 9700 if you've been thinking about going for a faster phone.

Right now "cheaper" is much more critical than "faster", alas. ;)

Thanks for the input, even if I wish the news were better!

Be very careful buying Blackberrys on eBay. Consider yourself warned.

I had success with EBay. Look for a company that offers guarantees. I bought a phone from Dyscern Inc and was pleased. However, there are several companies available. We also have a Buy, Sell, Trade section on this site.

Forgot to say welcome to the blackberryforums.com! And akosnitzky's advice is quite sound. Good luck on finding your next device!

You can take it to a T-Mobile shop and see if they can do anything for it. Or you could find a third-party repair shop locally. Lastly, you could go to Cellular Nationwide Network - 3G, Sony, Panasonic, LG, SonyEricsson, Nokia, Tools, BlackBerry, and order new parts for an in-home repair.

Probably though, you're going to have to replace your BlackBerry with another one, either new or used.

Depending on the store, you may be able to return it for a replacement. I would be honest and tell them what happened. Ixxx8217;ve dropped my phone many times and so far I have been lucky and nothing has happened. Also I would invest in a cover for the next one to help absorb any shock from dropping.
