Default Picking up a Storm 2 today

Please Login to Remove!

I have been gone from this forum for a while and my job just upgraded my phone from the 8830 to the Storm 2. I have to go pick it up in a little bit. Any suggestions right off the bat?

The touch screen may challenge you for awhile. Give it several weeks before forming too much judgement. Verizon just gave me a new Storm2 to replace my original, which I've been using for about nine months. Turns out my touchscreen was glitchy. The new phone is quite a lot better. The old one was, among other things, much harder to respond on the left side than the right. Even with the problems, though, I like the phone and hope this new one is mostly glitch free. Nothing is ever perfect, alas...

Post Love the Storm 2 but have an issue...Help!

I purchased an unlocked Storm 2... I am on At&t. Used to have the original Storm and everything worked flawlessly however with this phone I can not acess the browser. when I click on the Browser icon I get " This is a Wifi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wifi connection and try again". I don't want to use Wifi... this is why I pay for unlimited data on my Blackberry plan. I want to use the regular browser however do not have that option to pick on my device. The only option is Hotspot Browser and nothing else. Help! How can I change this? Ant help would be greatly appreciated. Victoria

A buddy of mine bought a Storm 2 and unlocked it but couldn't get the browser to work either. He is pretty good when it comes to phones and he didn't have any luck. He ended up returning the phone.

So far I really like the phone. Still setting everything up and getting use to the operation of it. So far so good.

I love mine except no OS6. And not even a Storm 3 yet to support it

I had the Curve then went to the Tour then to the 8830 and figured I wouldn't like the Storm 2 but so far I have been really happy with it. Still getting use to surfing the internet with the touch screen and typing emails and text messages. But I think it will work out well. The larger screen is a huge positive for me.

Good to hear that you're liking it so far. You should get used to the SurePress in a week or so...that's about how long it took me to start typing more efficiently with my Storm.

I just wish the scrolling through the contacts and stuff was as smooth as my iPod Touch.

No, it won't.

Yes, take it back and get a Droid. You will spend a lot of your time configuring the Storm to make it work.

I'm not sure if anyone else has had these problems with the Storm2, but, here is what has been happening with mine.

I don't have many complaints about the BB Storm2, however, I notice that after BB upgrades the phone 'behaves' strangely. The last upgrade has just about ruined my touch screen. It gets a mind of its own when I 'touch' a program that I want to open. Sometimes the program will open, and sometimes it will open in a flash and close. I will have to try to select a different program to open and then return to the program I am actually trying to get in to.

The keyboard will also 'stick' when I am typing in BBM or Gmail, etc. The keyboard will get very tough like the perfect touch doesn't want to move and actually type the letter. Then, usually, the program will close and return me to the homescreen again. The I end up fighting with it to get it to open again. The text I had been typing will still be there but sometimes the program will close and return to the homescreen 3-4 times before I can finish typing.

Also, my return key and home key work sometimes. I never had this problem until the recent upgrade...maybe back in May? It has been a while.

Also, since the upgrade, when the phone rings, I have to select 'answer' multiple times until the call will be answered. There have been times I can't answer it at all and miss the call. The keyboard and/or the 'green' answer button won't acknowledge that I am pushing on them. Very annoying!

Some days the BB works perfectly and other days I want to toss it out the 12th story window. Curious is anyone else has this problem?

Ocean134 - I have had most of the same issues that you have on my Storm2, so you are not alone, but not on my latest replacement (had for 3 months now)

In a 2 year contract I had two replacement Storms, of which the last was then replaced with a Storm2 (free due to the issues I've had) and that has been replaced once due to the issues you have raised above - I was told by vodafone that the screen was faulty and that they had never seen that fault before (despite various other posts on the internet saying about similar stuff).

5th phone in a period of 20 months is not a good track record IMHO - I'm considering my options in 4 months !!

I've also had many of the same problems described by Ocean134, with my Storm2. Recently got a warranty replacement, and have had far fewer problems with the new phone. I also had a disastrous software upgrade on my first Storm2. Verizon tech supporters walked me through a downgrade to the previous version, which didn't solve any of these glitches. It was right after that that they suggested they send me a new phone.
