There are many others with the same experience as myself.
We've had a few defective BB's over the years at the company I work for. Rogers replaced them next-day no questions asked. Never had a bad one twice.
My wife however has had to get a few replacement 8520's. Her first one she got a dead key, the second one would randomly reboot, no matter what OS is on it.
Defects happen.
Also, what was mentioned above about where they are made is true. I've found the ones in made in Ontario tend to be the best assembled. But my opinion might be a tad biased ;)

Re: Second Blackberry 9780 and more/same problems
Two places:
1. On the box the device comes in. It will say like "mexico 5" on it.
2. On the device itself, underneath the battery.

Re: Second Blackberry 9780 and more/same problems
Hi guys,
I signed a contract for my bold 9780 two months ago, but the new handset keeps showing me "Sim card rejected", and when this happens there is no way i get any message or incoming call, very annoying. By the way, i have changed three new handsets from the store, and they all have the same problem, now i am waiting for the resolution from the company. I don't know if someone in the forum has the same experience with me, or some one can give me a little hint to help me out.

Have they tried issuing you a brand new SIM Card?
If they have, then I would suggest calling your network provider's BB Tech Support line and request a "Network Reboot" of your complete service. It could be a glitch on their server and a Network Reboot/Refresh would likely solve it.
If that doesn't work... Ask any friends or colleagues who are with your proivider, who also have Berrys, and see if they have similar problems - it could be a problem with the provider's general network software.
Sometimes, during network upgrades, users experience all kinds of issues (I did, during Roger's Network upgrades two summers ago - I got the BB tech support reps to check for "Tickets" on their system that listed my symptoms - that helped them narrow down the problem, but it was only 2 weeks of suffering on my end - and I was issued bill credits for my "pain and suffering" :P)

If you've tried three devices and all give the same error..... I would be looking to the SIM card. In fact, I probably would have looked there first, but oh well ;)

Re: Second Blackberry 9780 and more/same problems
I'm now on replacement phone number 3 and still the same stutter typing issue. I was told it's a software corruption. I did everything they said to do, update the OS and a selective restore. Installed everything fresh. Don't know what else to do but have the phone replaced every other week. Sad, I love the phone but am getting really tired of extra letters and spaces as I type.

Re: Second Blackberry 9780 and more/same problems
I've had face to face meetings with T-Mobile and RIM in the last two weeks. Both claim they never heard of it. So I made sure they had heard of it. In the meantime, I've had to go back to my trusty 9700 as it doesn't stutter.

yes the stutter problem seems to be phone/hardware related as opposed to software related....my first 9780 had the key stutter problem regardless of which software i loaded and it was so annoying....my second one did not stutter but it still has many other problems....pieces of junk these phones are....

Re: Second Blackberry 9780 and more/same problems
Strange. The 9780 is basically an updated 9700, so I wonder what went wrong since the 9700 is truly an excellent phone.

I want to amend this post. I eventually ended up with the "double type" issue as well. Ended up getting a replacement device from Rogers. So far so good with the new one, but this sounds like an extremely common problem just from the information that is coming forth in this thread. Which is a bit unsettling.

Just checked mine, made in Hungary. I got my 9780 in NOV 2010, I'm on Vodafone UK no quality issues, and (touch wood) no bugs or problems mentioned here.

Re: Second Blackberry 9780 and more/same problems
Hi. I have very sensitive keys all of a sudden. My 9780 has worked great for the first few months and now i get double letters and periods from the double space that was supposed to only be a single space. I have reinstalled software and am on OS6 now and it is still happening. Any suggestions to help with this annoying issue? As well, when in the calendar day view, it has become difficult to swipe the track pad left/right to move days earlier/later and this too is very new. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks in advance....

Re: Second Blackberry 9780 and more/same problems
Scott, this seems to be a well documented problem for some users of the 9780. Recommend doing a search on "stutter" or something like that to see previous threads on the subject.
