Default Switching Carriers...

Please Login to Remove!

I currently have an 8100 with T-Mobile and I will be purchasing the Bold tomorrow with AT&T. I understand I have 30 days to try out both the device and the network on AT&T and if I don't like it, I can return it.

My question: Say I use the Bold/AT&T for 20 days and I don't like it, and get the Storm on VZW instead. For me to port my existing number, can I effectively 'cancel' my AT&T if I port to Verizon? Or does porting ones number not count as "returning" the phone/ATT service?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You would need to return the device as well... of course. Porting the number over to VZW does not equal returning the hardware.

I understand that, I'm not looking to keep both devices. I'm just curious to know if switching carriers constitutes effective notice to ATT that my contract was properly cancelled within my 30 day allotment and I wouldn't be charged any fee (provided I return the hardware).

Wirelessly posted (troydbrown is Chad!)

Porting will cancel contract but you will need to return the equipment

I recommend getting a temp number to try the service if happy then port number over.

If equipment isn't returned they will likely not let the number go.

Keep in mind if you return within 3 days there are no charges to you after 3 days. You pay activation fee plus service for number of days you have it
