Default Creating transparency in HS background

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I'm a WM user (Windows Mobile WM6/Moto Q). In a short period, BB's today/homescreen layouts are in my interest. I decided to use BB's layouts on my homescreen and I'm good to go writing xml files. I wrote some xml's and layout orientation is good as I want.

But in the visual/graphical side, I need your assistance. As you know there is a dark transparent part in the BB's homescreen where carrier, battery, date and time is shown. Although I have BB's wallpaper, I don't know how to create this transparent part.

I have PhotoShop and CorelDraw, could you please tell me what I have to do to get that transparency (as I show in pictures attached).

Thanks,

Select black as your color, and change the transparency until desired, then just some tool that gives you that rectangle at the top.

I use paint.NET, so I choose black as my color, choose the rectangle shape as my tool, change it to fill, and drag across the picture until it matches what I want.

Thanks for your comment Mr. Bauer, its really useful.

I found rectangle shape in paint.NET but, I didn't figure out to select any colour as default. When I select rectangle, it comes with its default dark transparent colour...

What is the trick of selecting colour as default to gain transparency?

I used rectangle tool in PhotoShop today and selected the fill colour black as you said. Then I reduced opacity till I reached the transparency I desire. That is it I get it

Thank you very much..
