Default Bold + Iphone 3G... I want Both!!! Why not?!?!?

Please Login to Remove!

I understand that this has been discussed before but I haven't seen the topic broached in the past several days. Now, with the release of the Bold, it really is a timely topic.

Like many, I want to be able to use both an Iphone 3g AND a Bold(obviously not at the same time). I want to have the ability to switch the SIM depending on the device I want to use that day.

I currently have an Iphone 3g and I dont want to add a line because no matter which device I am using, I want to be able to have the same phone number.

WHY WON'T AT&T SELL ME BOTH PLANS?!?!? I'M WILLING TO PAY FOR BOTH!!!! I DON"T GET IT!!!

Does ANYBODY have a solution to this?

Thanks in advance.

Get a Bold and forward the iPhone to it when you are using it.

I have an iPhone and a BB (well, I used to use the iPhone) and I forwarded one phone to the other. Not optimal, but it works.

It doesn't forward SMS or MMS messages, which is important to me.

You can't use the BIS Plan? When I had the AT&T Tilt, I have a blackberry plan with BIS, nothing else. I still pay $30 per month, but I can still use my Tilt and the Blackberry Plan. I even switch to my 8800 once in awhile back then. You should try, you might get the basic data plan for the iPhone, but at least you don't have to play around with the Feature in AT&T Site whenever you want to switch phones.

I have a 1st Gen iPhone and occasionally forward the BB to it. The iPhone's like my home line but it's rare that I forward. I'm so BB addicted at this point that I prefer to carry the BB with me all the time.

I know you say you don't want another line.... but... this is what I have:

I have one line (not my main # ) on the Iphone 3g with the appropriate iphone plan.

I have another line (my main#) on my Bold (formerly was my curve) with a BB plan and a sms plan.

When I want to use the iphone for an extensive period - I swap the sim. My main line is now connected to my iphone 3g. The only sacrafice is visual voice mail, everything else works!

But....since I got my Bold...not sure I'll want to use my iphone very much

used to swap the sim card in and out of multiple berrys a few years ago... am thinking the sim card in the iphony is not somehow transferable... different system?..you can pull it though... they just won't huh? maybe revenue sharing with those apple robbers... this all makes me so confuse... spent 5 hours with 10+ people getting the BOLD to tether via bluetooth... she's a workin' now Mate!

this is what i have been doing for the last year, i (up until recently) have been carrying an iphone and a blackberry (now the blackberry bold) and what i did was i put my Sim card in my iphone and did the whole activation. then i called at&t and had them set it up as the blackberry data. that way itunes activated my iphone and make all the necessary rate plan changes, and then i had them switch it to my blackberry plan and i just move my sim back and forth accordingly. i haven't had any problems since i started doing this.. i am a Huge applefanboy and i love blackberry also, (plus AT&T gives blackberries unlimited roaming outside the country so that's the other reason why i have this) so i believe this should be able to work for you also. Hit me up if you have anymore questions.

I assume the SIMS are easy to SWAP? Also...I'd assume if I just went and bought a BOLD, all i'd have to do is call AT&T and have the place the BB Plan on my line and take off the Iphone Plan? Thats it?

yes that is correct! i am sorry but my email account hadn't been updated so i never got the message that you replied. i updated it now on here so its good now. Now keep in mind that ANYTIME iTunes has to activate your iPhone it is going to change the plan on your iPhone. so we have a 2.2 update coming up in the next few weeks, after that update iTunes will have to activate your phone again, and when it sees that your plan is wrong (not the iPhone plan) it will go through the motions of changing your plan again. if you ever i have to Restore the phone, it will need to activate as well, changing your plan to the iPhone plan.
