you can turn off the wireless transmission easily on all current models.

Ohh, as silly as this sounds I did not know that. When I travel (and I travel at least once a month), I turn my BB off.

The "Turn Off Radio" or "Turn Wireless Off" icon is the airplane mode on all BlackBerries ever invented.

There is another airplane mode for BlackBerries that many may not know about - pack it in your check thru luggage...

I think I'd have the shakes thru the entire flight if my beloved Blackberry wasn't with me during the flight

If it is in the luggage, how are you ever going to sneak it back on as soon as the wheels touch the ground

Hey man... it was just laying there on the table. I am disappointed that no one else picked it up earlier

Not that it matters to me being I am not getting the voice plan on my blackberry, but to put a voice'd bb on airplane mode, all you have to do is turn off the phone capability and the wireless right? Then it is safe to use on an airplane?

correct. Turning the wireless off, turns the email and voice off. The whole shabang. No connection to network towers.

Saweet! I need to be educated on this so I don't have a flight attendant tackle me. I almost got jumped by a flight attendant because I had my ear fitting headphones in my ears during the take-off/beginning of my flight to keep my ears from hurting. The headphones were not connected to anything, I just had them on because of the fit - she came up to me and started jumping all over me - it looked like half of the other people were about to lunge at me too. Until I showed her that it was not connected. Ha. I am going to just invest a few bucks in some ear plugs.

I have earplug headphones, so I listen to my iPod from takeoff to landing. I don't usually get caught.
