People want to browse the web and download files. And they want it to be just as fast as their PC You would think that RIm of all people would understand. They are the main reason that people want their email instantly.

I agree with that statement, though (low latency over high throughput). Honestly, when it comes to remote administration of systems, etc., low latency is definitely a key. That's simply not going to be a great factor when it comes to mobile experiences, though (although the small screen size and seemingly unimagineable compression algorithms, it could be helped a lot in lieu of high latency).

I highly agree SSH is very slow, but it is nice to have.

Even browsing regular pages the time it takes to finish once the page starts to load is not bad, its that initial latency where you see the blackberry logo (or on my new 8300 the AT&T logo :rolleyes each page you that have to wait on that sucks...
Reducing latency also makes things feel much more snappier, even when they take a long time to fully render...
