Default July 11 for iPhone 3G...

Please Login to Remove!

With iPhone 3G not coming until July 11, any chance RIM / AT&T will push out the BOLD in late June? or does Apple have such a strangle-hold on AT&T that even if RIM was ready AT&T would make them wait until early August?

It'll be very interesting to see what happens regarding an annoucement of BOLD's availability. If we don't hear anything in the next week to 10 days, you have to assume it will be August.

We'll see how well these features work. We still don't even know if it supports something as necessary and simple as copy/paste.

And I"m coming from a first gen iPhone, so it's not like I'm not impressed with the device.

I own a 1st gen iPhone and I have no interest in buying a 3G one. I do want the Bold, I hope RIM gets it out very soon to try to take some sales away from Apple.

I would be interested in knowing why you want the bold over the iphone.
I'm trying to make up my mind on which way to go. Its hard when neither are available.

Reasons I want the Bold more than the IPhone:

1) I hate typing on the screen keyboard of the IPhone.

2) I like having copy and paste.

3) I like having true PUSH email with my GMail. I don't think this will be available on an IPhone to my knowledge.

4) I already have an I-Pod and don't need a new one.

5) I dont want to have my IPhone hooked up to my truck and be jamming out only to have the phone start ringing through the speakers of my truck. (This one may work in a different manner, as, I dont have an IPhone.)

Those are just five quick reasons I could think of.

Maybe it's just me, but I am completely underwhelmed by the 3G iPhone. I think the problem is that I was expecting to be wowed. With that said, except for the fact that it's a WM device, the Samsung Omnia is far more impressive, at least "on paper."

Well, I have to admit.

After seeing MobileMe from Apple, I MIGHT have to switch to the iPhone my self.

Unless Blackberry has something like that available?

I am pretty excited about MobileMe. Well, let me say first, not about the name or the small increase to 20GB but I'll take what I can get.

Right now, I have a mac at work running VMWare/Windows and a BB 8310. At home, I have my macbook pro and an iphone. I'm using BES at work and then when I get home, I connect my BB to my macbook pro to run Missing Sync to update. That updates all my macs using DotMac. Phew...that was confusing!

It's actually not that bad but there are several steps and it's one of those kind of syncing tasks where if one thing goes wrong, it messes everything up. It looks like MobileMe might improve that.

I've been trying to use my iPhone a little more recently in anticipation of 2.0 but have to admit that I could never give up my BB for everyday work stuff

I'm now on the fence as many others are. I think I need some convincing to get a Bold over the iPhone 3G. I currently have the iTouch and REALLY REALLY like the web browsing. I actually use it alot while I'm traveling (which I do weekly with work). However, I like the email and the turn by turn GPS with my BB 8820. I wish I could have both in my hands and try to make a decision. I guess I could if I wanted to wait a few months when they're both in stock at an AT&T store.

According to Ralph De La Vega, he estimates Blackberry Bold release early August.

Glitchy switching from EDGE to 3G, and constant outing on BBM has pushed it back. Another thing RIM and AT&T haven't agreed on is battery life which was contributed to the seamless switching of Edge to 3G. Another issue from testing is the battery running hot. Anyone who has a 3G phone knows that the battery can tend to run a little hot, and with the faux leather back, that could heat up some hands.

My two cents as an AT&T employee.

As we all are well aware of, iPhone2 is good, but Blackberry is superior.
