Default WiFi Problem

Please Login to Remove!

My new 9700 has problems to connect to the same WiFi routers where my 9000 could connect without problems. The hotspots are WPA2 AES, hidden SSID, MAC Address filtering.
The only way to connect with the 9700 is to make the SSID visible and disable MAC Address filtering.
Seems to be a bug in the 9700.

I've found WiFi a bit flakey on my 9700 too. I often only have the greyed out WiFi symbol on my 9700. But when I check my 8900 (which I have for work) it generally has a full white wifi symbol indicating it has a full connection to the Blackberry server.

LOL, flakey is a good way to describe it. I thought I had my 9700 connected to my home wifi, but it wasn't. Have not found a fix or trick yet to ensure a solid connection.

I've noticed several times lately here at the house the wifi symbol goes gray. When I check the settings, wifi is checked but only shows a dash (no red x or a green check). When I scan for available networks, it shows "home" and that it is connected, but still grayed out. Then, suddenly, connectivity! Don't know why it comes and goes.

I am having the same problems, the 9700 refuses to allow me to "automatically log into free hot spots" but I found something that works, its weird, but it works- Go into the hot spot, make sure your phone is showing the red star in the wifi icon and the set-up, (youll see 2) Turn the phone off and then back on, in the process of doing this it allows me to use the Free Hot Spot

I have to correct my previous posting.
The problem is not cuased by the invisible SSID and/or MAC filtering, but by using a fixed IP to connect.
Using DHCP worked with invisible SSID and/or MAC filtering.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hey, I'm also facing the same problem. Is anyone has the solution for this?

Default Wifi Connection on 9700 unit

I am having also a problem with my wifi connection in 9700 unit. It does show the available network but the wifi symbol is still gray. And when I checked my laptop, the signal of wifi showed excellent.

Hope some brilliant guys could help us on this problem...

Thanks much....

I am very frustrated with this Wifi problem too. My BB seems to recognize wireless networks and says that it is 'connected' them. But the wifi icon stays gray and the network lacks the green check mark on the 'Manage Connections' page.

Strangely, I can shut down the Mobile Network and surf the web. So I am connected. But I cannot send emails. When I look in the 'Services Status' it shows the BB Internet Service and the BB Enterprise Server Connection 'Not Connected'. This killed me on a NYC to LAX flight two days ago.

I upgraded to this BB just so I could email on airline internet services. And it used to work. Only thing I can think of different is that I recently 'upgraded' the software to .442. I waited for the official release but it seems like a mistake to me.

I don't have problem with connection to wi-fi at home with my Blackberry Bold 9700.

On service status:
BlackBerry Internet Service:
Connection: Wi-Fi
BlackBerry Enterprise Server:
Connection: Wi-Fi

I'm on BIS data.

I'll test it out tomorrow to visit McDonald's to use their free hotspot wireless.

I just downloaded the newest software from the sticky at the top of this Bold 2 forum. Now my Wifi is white with a green check mark.

New software update seems to have fixed this problem. No issues since install.
