Red face NotifyLink and firmware update

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone, I have searched and found some threads but none that answer my question so please bear with a BBNewbie. While reading this forum for about a month before the Telcom guy at work was able to get my 8700c to me I became very intrigued by the 8707 and Telstra Firmware updates. My question is this, If I update the firmware on my BB will I lose the NotifyLink application? My company guy already told me that they will not support any BBs if they were updated outside of our IT group. Can any of you shed some light on this. I'd really like to get the 8707 firmware on my BB.

Wirelessly posted (8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Think you have some confusion. I am not aware of 8707 software being put on an 8700c. Yes you lose all apps. So if you don't have it to reinstall you won't have it back.

you can download notifyling yourself from their website, you do need the password info to reactivate it though

There is a thread in some boards referring to the procedure to put the 8707 release on ther 8700. I wouldn't recommend it as you lose TCP/IP.

Instructions are here:

I wanted the "Today" themes so what I did was install the Telstra o/s then installed the Vodafone and Dimension Today themes.

Ok, so is there any way around this. I need NotifyLink as it is the corporate email that gets pushed to my BB (Which I am really getting addicted to know) I am assuming that I can reinstall all of my other apps. But I don't want to wait for Cingular to get up to speed with the updates since one of the biggest problems I can hardly hear the think ring, and other people talking to me. In addition I've heard that the newer updates speed up the unit a bit. If I have the PIN number of my device key, where would the password come into play?

you'll have to talk to whoever manages the notifylink server and get the server to resend registration info, and your registration only requires your email address and the authentication password... you'll need those too. the default password is simply 'password' and its set by the server admin... (mine has always been the default)
