I initially had a heck of a time removing my cover, until I figured out how to do it, then it was easy. Let me try describing my approach. On the back of the 8830 is a square with raised edges. This entire square is part of the cover that is removed. I lay the phone face down on a soft surface. With my left thumb I push down on the top of the raised square. (Top is the side with the speaker pointed up). I then put my right thumb fingernail on the inside bottom edge of the square and slide it down. You must be pressing down with the left thumb on the top of the raised square while you are sliding the cover with the right thumb. Hope that helps.

For the life of me, I cannot remove the battery cover. I press on button in the back and try to slide but nothing happens.
