Default BBLight File Assistance - How To: Pls Help.

Please Login to Remove!

I need some assistance regarding some files - BBLight and BBWeather. Any assistance would be regatly appreciated.

I've downloaded BBLight and changed it to a 'rar' file and extracted. The files that get extracted are BBLight.alx and BBLight.cod.

How do I get the files onto the desktop manager and thus onto my BB 8100?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

In Desktop manager, start App Loader. Then browse for the file and install.

In Desktop Manager, run Application Loader with your BB plugged in. (this cant be done over a BT connection)

Once loaded it will show you all the components installed and that CAN be installed to your BB. There will also be an "Add" button. Click that and point to the .alx file you downloaded for each of the programs. This will add these programs to the list of components and will checkmark them implying that they are to be installed.

Once that is all done, just continue hitting next and it will add these programs to your BB. From there on, they will always show in the list and you can uncheck them in future when running Application Loader should you want to remove them from your BB.

Enjoy

Many thanks for going into detail - will I be able to install the files if I have the lastest Vodafone (UK) update on my BB?

8100M_PBr4[1].2.0_rel70_PL2.2.0.35_A4.2.0.61_VodafoneUK

Its just that having followed the instructions when I select application loader it states that:

the current system applications are newer than those available with the current version of Desktop Software.

It then offers two options:

Either leave device unchanged (recommended) which doesnt allow me access to the application loader ..... or

replace device applications with older version provided by BB desktop software.

What should I do??

Many thanks for the help guys - its really appreciated.

It seems that you have downloaded and installed an older version of the OS loader on your desktop.

Locate the old OS loader EXE, double click on it and you will get "repair" or "uninstall" options. Choose uninstall.

You may be able to find the older OS loader in control panel->add/remove programs as well. Remove it there.

Run DM again and you should be okay.

so should I have version 4.2.0.64 or .61?

I've just installed the old system down to version 4.2.0.61

If I install the BBLight file and then upgrade to v4.2.0.64 will it keep the BBLight program file?

I'm using desktop software version 4.2 if that matters

Man.........having a BB is hard work Thanks for the help!

Just downgraded to version v4.2.0.61 and instaled BBLight, in the process of upgrading again.

Thanks very much for the assistance thus for though. Much appreciated. Owning a BB and staying up on the software etc certainly is hard work Trying to get used to the various updates and loading procedures.
