When you get a call from someone, bb stores that number as a received call.
I meant that as identifying number.

If you are like me, 'Content Protection' is set by my company's BES and I cannot unlock it. However, I do have the option to exclude my Address Book from this content protection by setting the 'Include Address Book' option to 'No'. I test and this fixed my problem.

Furthermore, this allows you to protect the contect on your blackberry and get your callerID back without turning content protection off all together.

Having my phone locked does not disable the incomming caller id name display using the stored addresses. It will however only show the number if the name does not exist in the address base.
I'm on a BES and have full security enabled including content protection and password and this is how mine works I do not have a setting to include the address book in security
I did notice , without the area code it does not display. Maybe this is an option on the BES, I dont know.
Or they override the option.

I also use a BES and have my content protected, but have found that my caller ID was disabled when using a password. This has been my only issue with my phone, which is why I am so happy to finally find a fix. I simply disabled the content protection and suddenly names appear in the caller ID when the phone is locked. Previously, it would only show a number.

Am I opening myself up to any additional security risk by not enabling the content protection? My company only requires that I use a password, so I am in compliance, but I certainly would like to be as safe as possible.

If You have enabled the Content Protection option on the BlackBerry device, which encrypts data stored locally on the BlackBerry device. When you unlock the BlackBerry device, it goes through a process of decrypting the data so you are able to view the contents. So this will add to the security of any data you have. It does slow down the response you will get.

I had a similar situation to this and I have to say it's only Blackberry I've encountered this from.

I always used to save numbers with the country dialling code i.e +447734 123456 and in previous phones this has been fine and the contact still shows on caller ID but for some reason on my BB I have to save the number in the contact as a national number i.e 07734 123456 for it to work with Caller ID.
