I just called and they told me that they have no html browser and that the only browsing they have is wap.

Looks like this is a rumor for sure

If you read my previous posts I stated sometime in Q2. If it didn't happen today then it obviously wasn't ready yet.

I have a little story to share.

I ordered the 7510 end of last year. Upon ordering I asked the Nextel SalesRep (called Nextel Direct) when the new model was coming out seeing that a post here claims it was due Xmas of 04'. I was strictly advised that it were to come out about a year later. January 1, 2005 was the launch for the 7520. not kool.

So it's April 4....guess we can give it a few more days before there are any news about the browser.

One note on Reqwireless. It would be great if you can make WebViewer your default browser that way all links (say, from Berry411 mapquesting) would launch in WV instead of NOL....mapquest never works for me in NOL.

There has always been a full browser for BES users for years on all carriers to the best of my knowledge...

Yep. They all get the full HTML browser.

However, BWC users on more and more carriers (unfortunately not all), are getting the same browser nowadays. It depends on the carrier whether you get this luxury afforded formerly to BES users...

I just got off the phone with Nextel. They spoke to the nice people at Blackberry (while I listened to the on hold music).

Sometime this month they are going to get us a Browser that will be an html browser. It is supposed to be a free download from the blackberry web site.

Cool

I just got off the phone with them myself.

The guy I spoke to said he didn't know details, but that Nextel's "working on it."

Which essentially means that Nextel doesn't really know anything except that something's coming.

= ) Yeah.

I'm wondering if RIM is making a new BB for Nextel to go along with the 7100 series since the price is low and all the offers end May 31st for new roll-out of products. i860 is going down in price and the 7520 is rediculously low as it is.

Will the Jabber IM be a free DL as well...might have to wait a little to get our BB then if it's not, but we're getting 2 for our business in the next couple days or next week...i'll let you all know if anything is on the new ones.

First thing ON topic in this post:

I really do not like HTML browsers on portible devices. I have a PALM Tungsten T5 and the HTML browser on that makes the pages way to big. Now unless this one shrinks the page so I don't have to scroll everywhere or say "Page is too large to be displayed" then that would be nice but so far I like WAP net better for small devices.

I called Nextel today and talked to the BB Support, and they told me they were not for sure if the browser swap was going to happen or not. She said that it was the first she heard of it. I guess that is typical for us Nextel customers...HAHA...I will agree to the BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT!!

just got off the phone with someone at nextel's NY/NJ wireless applications and solutions group and he told me that nextel and rim have had discussions about an html browser for web client. he also stated that he is not sure if there would be a recurring monthly fee. His suggestion was to go reqwireless.
hope that helps

HTML browser is out!!! go to the gen discussion board here and go to the 7520 OS upgrade link. the BB HTML browser loads faster than Reqwireless' Webviewer. sweet.

for the moment, I take back all the silly things I said about Nextel...... just for the moment.

I did the upgrade and had no luck... any suggestions? I want to keep this on one thread, so is this the proper one to discuss this or the other one?
