Default Hi Everyone :)

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, my name is Drew. I am currently a moderator on a minnesota car forum that has this same forum layout. So hopefully I will be able to figure out stuff on this forum easily.

I cant say enough how much I like knowing there is a forum for the BB! I swear that I knew alot about the phone, but I guess I was wrong. So that just tells me there is even more to my phone than I ever thought possible!

I found this forum by doing a google search for a memory loss issue with my pearl. I found a few answers that may help, but I still have to dig a little deeper. Despite having to pull my battery and doing the quick pull on it several times a day, I still love this phone!

What can I say, I love my BB and I will never go back to another phone again!!!

Welcome to the forums, Drew.

Pulling the battery several times a day shouldn't be necessary. What is your file free? What applications/themes do you have installed?

Thank you,

well, I don't really want to turn this into another off-topic thread, but I have a few items installed and numerous ones deleted

I usually have 0 bytes free after using the phone for internet and other apps. If I check after I reset the system with the quickpull, or pulling the battery, I will have about 2mb's or maybe even 1mb free. I have cleaned out my sms/mms/saved and unsaved folders and found if I go to the home/menu/options/status screen then hit menu/database sizes I can find how much of each item is taking up what, but it clearly doesn't show me much.

I dont have any themes loaded on my phone, I kind of wanted to wait to figure out my memory problem

Installed:
Google Mobile App
Google Maps
Facebook
The Weather Channel
Dictionary.com
Pandora
BB App World
Ebay
My Verizon
QuickPull
Brickbreaker
Spin lite Jacks or better
Spin lite Blackjack
Golden Thumb Blackjack
Sudoku lite

1 or 2 Mb is EXTREMELY low.

That's a good amount of apps. Are you closing out of each one when you're done or do you let them run in the background?

Take a look at some of these links:

You're right about getting this off topic. Mods, could you move this to a new thread for his memory issue.

I usually close them out. On occasion I will keep them up, but usually I will go back to them. When I check the App switcher I only have these running:

phone
BB messenger
home screen
browser
messages

Those items will always be running. You cannot close them. Just keep in mind to not leave the Browser on a page that refreshes frequently such as a weather site, etc. This could cause a memory leak.

I always either back out of every program I am in, or hit the menu and close each app. On occasion I will leave my car forum up on the browser for easier searching, but the site does not refresh itself. I honestly don't really know what could be the cause. I believe my phone should have about 64mb of space on it, minus the software/harware it uses to run, but I clearly have a max of about 2mb.

I have connected my phone to the computer and made sure that all pics are saving to the media card and even removed all the pics, but that didn't make a difference.
