Default Right convenience button doesn't work

Please Login to Remove!

My right convenience button doesn't seem to work. When it is set to camera it doesn't open the camera or take a picture when the camera is already open. When I change it to something else ie. BBM or Contacts it doesn't open either of those...has anyone had this problem?

Did it used to work and now doesn't?
Has it never worked?
Is this a previously used device or a brand new one?
Has it been dropped at any point?

It's a brand new phone only over 1 week old. Never been dropped. Today was the first time I tried to use the ride side button. When it is set to camera you have to be in "camera mode" and when you press it a white box appears but doesn't take a picture. If you hold the button for longer the box turns green but still doesn't take a picture. I know I am still under warranty to bring it back to the store and exchange but I wanted to see if there was a solution before going to the store.

Well is my face red! I haven't been pushing the button down hard enough. You rrreeallly have to push it in hard! I was just pressing it and that wasn't enough. How embarassing!!! Thanks anyways

Default Wow

I feel stupid. I thought mine was broken too. You're right, pushing it harder does the trick.

Weird.

Some of them do require quite a shove to activate. Mine was the same and it took me a day to figure out. The guy in the next desk who got his at the same time, just a gentle push is all that's required. Meh...

Pressing the Trackpad will take the picture as well. Instead of death gripping the phone to press the convenience button (an oxymoron in this instance) and blurring the image, the trackpad makes it easier to get a good shot.

Doh! Thanks, pushing it hard worked for me too. Funny that it still clicks when you press gently though, that's what made me think it wasn't working.

Is this a serious question?

The right convenience button is the button on the right side of the phone below the volume up/down buttons.

The left convenience button is the only button on the left side of the phone.

Right is that way ===>

Left is that way <===

I just assumed that R&L was determined when, you know, looking at the screen. Not the back of the phone, so it seemed quite elementary which was which.

I guess maybe not so much for all of us.

On the actual right SIDE of the phone. The side of the phone, is one button beneath the volume buttons.
Not the right (or left for that matter) side of the front keyboard.

And the escape key is the one right of the trackpad.Left of the end call key.

Chris, there are no wrong questions. But sometimes some experienced members forget that brand new users really don't know a whole lot about their Blackberry's or how to navigate their way around here. Welcome to the forum!
