Having serious problem with my device for the last 2 months, please help! I'm in NYC. While I'm driving talking on my phone, every calls I'm having audio problem. I see call is very active, all signal bars are showing. All the sudden we don't hear each other. I hang up & call again. Even sometimes I'm in conference call, I made calls to everyone. All the sudden for few minutes, I don't hear anyone talking & vice versa. After 2 to 3 minutes, I started to hear again. This is my 4th replacement device. Today I finally spoke with Blackberry Tech. he thinks, problem is in my Sim Card. I replaced my Sim Card with a new one. After weekend I will find out if the problem is solve? I'm off in weekend. Please keep in mind, when my device had handheld version 4.1.346 I never faced this problem, but every now & then my 8700g rebooted itself, while I was in active call. Since then I installed new version 4.2.1.91. I'm having major audio issues, but no more rebooting.

Sorry, guys I didn't mean to write so big notes. All I was trying to explain my situation. If any one has any advice, I would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Here are my thoughts on the new Tmo version (I'm using 4.2.191 from the Tmobile site):

First off, I don't use my BB as a phone so I can't comment on any new features there.

1. I love the fact that I can now listen to .wav files that are email attachments. This is huge for me.

2. I love the new profile settings and the flexibility. I can have separate sounds for different mail accounts which is great.

3. I like the new calendar features a lot

4. I like the ability to have SMS/MMS messages in a separate area

5. I like the BB Dimension Today theme.

6. The volume is considerably lower. For people who use this as a phone it may be an issue.

7. I like the voice note feature

Pretty damn good all the way around....

What are the new Calendar Features? For some reason, when you scroll to the newest date, it does not jump to the first event on that day, it just stays that that current time. I wish I could have that back. (Can I? haha)

When it comes to the volume, i do find it to be lower, but...if you are able to take the midi files or any audio files off, you can use a audio editor (cool edit, adobe audition, etc...) and compress the audio and then amplify it and it should work. My buddy who has an 8800 complained that his mp3 ringtone was too soft even on high, i did that to it and it worked great. just an idea.

The main question is what are the new calendar features though. Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I use my calendar in agenda view so I'm not affected by it not jumping to the first appointment. I like the ability in options to show free time and also to show end time of an appt. It helps me to better plan my day. Also I like how past appointments are in a light gray so its clear the time has passed. Just little things really but nice.

There is a fix for low volume. The phone is put into a volume default mode when you download the new version.. You can in increase by 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. Now it's louder then before.

That is in Phone >Options >General Options. However, I believe that just is the volume that the phone automatically answers in. I don't think it affects how loud you can turn it up when on a call.

It does make the ear volume much louder.
Hit your uppper green key quickly.
Then hit options
Then hit general options.
Scroll down to default call volume
Hit change option and set it to 100%

Let me know if this works for you.

There's an even newer version of the OS (v4.2.1.101) located here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...2-1-101-a.html

Default Green LCD light

I noticed that the Blackberry no longer blinks green when it has reception. It still blinks red if it received a message. Is there a way to activate the green status light under the new OS? Thanks.

Default keyboard locking

I have noticed that after you lock your keyboard using alt-enter, there is now a two step process to unlock the phone instead of one. You roll the the dial first to show the the unlock/emergency/cancel screen. After you click unlock, it again says the keyboard is locked and makes you press the * GREEN button to unlock. Kind of a pain in the @ss.

Yeah, I gotta agree with you there...it's the same on the .101 OS that I'm using.

noticed no difference.

Besides I wasn't complaining about the ear volume. More of the RING volume. Speakerphone is fine, but all the ringers are a lot quieter.

You no longer need to click "Unlock." Just hitting * and the Phone key will do it.

True, but why have an option to unlock with the scroll wheel if it doesn't directly unlock?

Default Download from Germany

I'd love to get that version downloaded and installed
But unfortunately T-Mobile requires me to enter an american T-Mobile number
which I don't have...
Any Idea where to get the SW or a suitable number ?

Even after having the latest DM and deleting the Vendor.xlm file, I still am not prompted to upgrade OS. Do I need to delete the Vendor.xlm file permanently out of the recycle bin?
