noticed another bug, besides the previous i've listed. All of a sudden, everytime I go inside one of my email addresses, instead of showing which mailbox it is on the top, it will show searching for service...but I have service. Just annoying thats all. I turn off the radio, and turn it back on and its gone.

Yeah, that's been a bug in the 4.2.1 OS's since the beginning. As you said, it's more of an annoyance than anything else. It doesn't affect anything.

Having serious problem with my device for the last 2 months, please help! I'm in NYC. While I'm driving talking on my phone, every calls I'm having audio problem. I see call is very active, all signal bars are showing. All the sudden we don't hear each other. I hang up & call again. Even sometimes I'm in conference call, I made calls to everyone. All the sudden for few minutes, I don't hear anyone talking & vice versa. After 2 to 3 minutes, I started to hear again. This is my 4th replacement device. Today I finally spoke with Blackberry Tech. he thinks, problem is in my Sim Card. I replaced my Sim Card with a new one. After weekend I will find out if the problem is solve? I'm off in weekend. Please keep in mind, when my device had handheld version 4.1.346 I never faced this problem, but every now & then my 8700g rebooted itself, while I was in active call. Since then I installed new version 4.2.1.91. I'm having major audio issues, but no more rebooting.

Sorry, guys I didn't mean to write so big notes. All I was trying to explain my situation. If any one has any advice, I would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
I'm having the same issue. Also, since the upgrade, i've been unable to answer any call waitings. then i choose Answer, put current on hold, it drops the 2nd incoming call and occasionally freezes up when trying to resume the original. Why would TMO put a version up with known bugs...somebody dropped the ball!

I must be one of the luckier ones -- my sound quality improved and I've not had any issues with the upgrade. I miss the insite theme, but have adjusted to what is available. I'm sorry so many people have had so many problems!!

I still have the 4.2 OS running on my 8700g, but now I'm seriously thinking about downgrading back. The two most common issues I have to deal with daily: Read (opened) messages still appearing on my home screen as if they are new and the automatic backlight keeps switching on by itself.

True, but why have an option to unlock with the scroll wheel if it doesn't directly unlock?
Truly, I have no answer for you. That's how RIM made it. :P

It will directly unlock if a password is required. If a password is not required you have to use the * phone method. It's been like that since the Pearl came out with 4.2 a year ago.

So ... what is the big deal that this OS version was pulled when carriers like Proximus have a newer, more stable OS release for this device? What is so magical and special about this particular OS release from this particular carrier?

It's "TMo"

I asked this at the beginning of this thread. I don't get it.

Because (crosses fingers that this is the actual reason) that there is an issue with the calls dropping just like it did for the Pearl when they (T-MO) released the 4.2.1.103 version

This problem occurs with all versions of 4.2.1 on T-Mo for random people, however the 4.2.1.107 release fixed the problem on the Pearl, but those of us with 8700's have been left high and dry.

Did you upgrade to TMO's version or another? If oyu have all themes unlocked (with the edit Balckberry.alx file) it could just be the default theme that it booted up with. I think when I upgraded to one of the earlier 4.2 OSs, it defaulted to Vodaphone Theme as well.

Just go to Options->Themes...and pick your favorite. I actual was using Bell's Icon Theme.
