Question Unread Message Indicator # decreasing each day at 12:00 midnight.

Please Login to Remove!

The first month I had my phone, I accrued about 100 missed calls and voicemails, none of which I opened, therefore the unread message count increased throughout the month.

Recently I noticed the number of unchecked messages decreasing every day. It happends at exactly 12:00 midnight each night, making me think that there is a time limit and the indicator only shows new messages within a certain timeframe.

Current settings=
Display message Count : Unread
Keep Messages: Forever

So why does this number decrease each day? Am I missing something?

TIA

That's not it. Your message options are set to expire and delete messages that are more then 30 days old. So every day at midnight, anything that's 31 days old gets deleted and hence decreases your message count. You can set it to never expire. I know you set it to never, but this is the only setting that would do this. Double check it and also make sure you're on the latest os.

I dont know if you read my initial post or not, but my messages are set to be kept "forever." I still have SMS and phone calls in my messages list from June 11th, the day i purchased my device.

The messages arent getting deleted, but somehow the "unread" message indicator decreases everyday.

I cant understand whats going on...

Does anyone else have any other ideas? has nobody ever had this happen to them before?

Upon further investigation, it appears all phone calls are being deleted after 30 days....but not SMS/email messages.

Is there a way to set phone call logs to NOT be deleted after 30 days?

TIA

check this out. Go into your mailbox>click on options>view folder>phone call logs. See if you have all your phone call logs there. If they are all there still I would say that the BB must auto archive them to this file. If they are missing from this folder view, sounds like you have problems

I think the phone will only hold so many call logs and when a new one comes in it will delete the oldest one.

Nope, not either of those. The phone calls are expiring from phone call logs afetr 30 days. Go into your phone call logs and hit "B"b for bottom. see if you have any phone calls logged before August 12, (30 days ago)

My messages are kept forever but for somereason, phone call logs are not controlled by that option. Is there a seperate option for phone call log retention times?

Interesting. I have less the 1 month (28-29 days) of phone logs.... this was no the case when I first got the phone. Are you on the latest OS version? I am, but I was on .66 when I first got this phone. May be an OS glitch.

Ever since OS 4.1 phone logs are only kept 30 days and there is no way to change this. The "keep messages forever" doesn't apply to the phone logs.
