Default 8700g: Fortte vs Gizmoskin?

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, here's a question for folks who have used either (or both) of these cases for a while.

I have the Gizmoskin, but after a couple of months of use the case has gotten very loose. Between that and the clip rotating a bit from vertical I've had my 8700g fall out twice in the past week. Anyone else have similar experience? How about the Fortte STI? Does it get too loose around the BB?

Thanks!

The Fortte case is made from a different type of leather. It's tougher and won't stretch as much as the Gizmo.

No contest - get a Fortte. Keep in mind that every leather case will give a little bit over time, it's the nature of the leather.

Definitely get a Fortte. I bought a Gismoskin in December and didn't really use it until recently. It fell apart the first couple of days. The sides wasn't sewed together, they were glued. Not happy at all with the Gizmoskin.

I will eventually get a Fortte case, but I am just waiting for you to come out with a clip where it is permanently connected to the case yet it ratchets on your belt. Like the Blackberry OEM Case.

I would buy the forte case now if there was an option for a slim clip like this one:
Krusell

I purchased the Fortte Flip style leather. Plain black case with no customizations. This is what I think.
Overall I like a case that I don't have to remove the BB to use it. The case is sturdy and the leather is sufficient quality... but is a bit more difficult to use the side buttons and trackwheel. A minor annoyance I am willing to live with. The charger fitment takes a bit more effort to plug into the BB....another little annoyance. My BIGGEST problem is with the clip. It is small and I don't feel it is secure enough nor will it fit large belts....as in clip the full width of a belt with the lip at the bottom past the belt edge ...to ensure it doesn't come off. The spring on the clip seems flimsy and isn't strong at all. The clip rocks around on the ball fitting and it seems just too unstable for my comfort. So not only does it ratchet but the case rocks in teeter totter motion on the clip. One more quibble. The case is stiff around the top edge and doesn't fold comfortably closed so it bulges somewhat at the front and shift position upward when closed. So it is not a flat fit when closed. This is probably due to the pocket slots on the inner side of the flap. I ain't happy! The sleeper functions works great!! lol..just to tell you the positive side of the case. I have used Vaja cases on other devices (Treo and palm lifedrive) in the past but I was really trying to avoid the price cost of another Vaja case. The Vaja case is well worth the money. I have never had a problem with their case and the clip is VERY sturdy and will fit larger belts or just clip to your clothing. You know that clip isn't going ANYWHERE unless you want it to. Oh well...Vaja here I come. I plan to dump this Fortte case.

More of a concern is this poster's assertion that the Fortte case for the 8700g is actually the same one sold for the c.
