Default Intellisync - "Unknown Error Reported" - RESOLVED!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all.

Have a new (refurb) Curve 8310 with AT&T, WinXP Pro, v4.3 Desktop and suddenly started getting "Unknown Error Reported" during intellisync and my Curve would not sync with my PC.

Did a bunch of searching, installing/reinstalling software, thought perhaps it could be because of the changes I made deleting .cods per John Clark's thread, though that didn't make any sense b/c my BB has been fine for a couple days now.

Anyhow, what fixed it is uninstalling both the OS & DM from my PC, manually deleting all "Research In Motion" folders/files, then reinstalling both and it works again.

Never had this problem with my 8700 & older version of DM, I sure hope this doesn't keep happening - big, big pain in the rear and very big waste of time.

Just thought I'd share my resolution with you guys.

Default it worked....

indeed, resetting the syncrhonization worked brilliantly. i use a BB 8310.

specifically, i clicked on the "Reset configuration" button, and that seemed to work very well. no more [Intellisync - "Unknown Error Reported"] errors.

hope it works for everyone else ...

Default Intellisync Unknown Error Reported

I just came home and went to sync my Bold and encountered the same problem. I followed stuart_rippon's fix and it corrected the error. I also rebooted my computer before I did that. Thanks Stu.

Encountered this problem yesterday. I had previously synced this BB (8900) on this computer (running Vista) with this version of DTM (4.7.0.32) when out of the blue yesterday, it gave me the Unknown Error.

I had uninstalled / reinstalled DTM 2-3 times before I decided to look here (dumb move on my part). I tried stuart_rippon's fix first but that did not resolve the error so I tried DrjonesUSA's fix and everything is now fine.

I had been struggling with this issue for a couple of days now. I tried all fixes avialable on these forums ( Resetting Sync, uninstalling and Re-installing DM (removed all registry enries foders etc.), Renaming the intellisync folder and running DM again--> NONE Worked!

However, I tried wiping all my BB calendar entries and then did a 2 way sync... it worked like a charm... just that i lost all my private entries on my BB calendar.
I hope to get them back from a backup file ..maybe.

Default unknown error

I am using an 8310, have version 4.5 on the phone, and Desktop manager 4.7

worked fine for weeks, then all of a sudden got the "Unknown error reported" message.

I did the "reset config" thing, that worked,
but then a couple days later, got the error again.

I tried the reset config, that didnt work - when i pressed the reset button,
IT go the error, too.

after following some instructions from website, none of which solved it,
i uninstalled, then reinstalled DM.

Then it worked again for synching, that was 2 days ago.

Now i'm trying to synch again, and am getting the damn error again.

HELP!

Default Intellisync - "Unknown error reported"

Please HELP!!!...I just bought a Verizon BlackBerry 8330 Curve (personal email - not BES), and I keep getting the Intellisync "Unknown error reported" error. I have uninstalled the Desktop Manager multiple times and different versions, including online 4.7, online 4.5, and the CD 4.5 version that came with the Curve, with no effect. I also tried several of the above listed 'fixes', but nothing helped.

I have called Verizon several times, and they even got me on the phone with BlackBerry, and they told me to delete the "Research In Motion" file(s), but for some reason, I cannot delete it...I keep getting the error 0x80070091. BlackBerry is now saying it is a Microsoft/corrupt file issue.

History: I used to have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Curve with my work that I installed August 2008 (ver 4.3) with no issues on my home computer.

Help!...I just want to sync my new Curve with my Microsoft Outlook.

Thanks!

Default Intellisync "Unknown error reported" issue SOLVED!!

Well, after attempting all the suggested solutions listed above, with no success over the past 2 weeks...I 'bit the bullet' called and paid Microsoft $59 to help me solve the issue(s). After 3.5 hours on the phone with them, we were not able to delete the Research In Motion/RIM user files, no matter what we tried.

So, we just created a new user in my Vista operating system, and quickly transferred all my files/documents, including my Outlook files over to the new user. Problem solved by basically ignoring the old RIM user files, and it didn't take too long either...And we didn't have to reinstall the operating system.

Good luck!

Thumbs up Problem Solved! Unknown Error

I have just hung up with Blackberry tech support and he walked me through the solution to the "Unknown Error" I have been receiving for a long time when I tried to sync. Here is what he told me to do and it worked!!!

FYI - I have Windows XP SP3

1) Make sure your Blackberry is disconnected from your computer
2) Start DM (Desktop manager) and on the upper right hand corner select Options
3) Select "Data Folder Options"
4) Select "Use this specified folder"
5) Right mouse click on the datapath and hit "select all" and copy
6) Hit Start and select Run
7) Paste data path into run and hit ok
8) Blackberry folder will open
9) Find the "Intellisync" folder - select it and delete it
10) Connect your Blackberry
11) Go to your DM's main menu - select "Synchronize"
12) On the left hand side - select Configure Synchronization
13) Select "Synchronization" button
14) When done - select Synchronize (Upper left corner)
15) On the synchronize screen - select only "Synchronize Organizer data" and "Update device date and time"
16) now select "Synchronize"

This should work - it finally worked for me after trying for several months to get it up and running - should have called Blackberry earlier!!

Good Luck!

I'm on Vista with the curve. I was also greeted with the "Unknown Error Reported" after updating my BlackBerry Desktop Manager to version 5.0.1.28(Nov11 2009). I attempted to repair the installation, disable UAC (User Account Control), etc. but the only thing that worked was paulsonr's instructions above. Thank you! JustinFYI.

Thumbs up thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU

Paulsonr,
After too many frustrating hours trying everything (tackling BB problems--this episode for the 3rd time, though this time it was specifically an "unknown error" problem) your solution solved the problem!!!! I'm so tickled I found this forum and searched until the right solution revealed itself. I really appreciate your presence and sharing. Thank you very much and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I've tried this fix probably 10 times and I still get the error.

I even uninstalled BD and reinstalled it. Anything else I can try?
