Default Tmo 8800

Please Login to Remove!

My 7100t is getting real tired, I passed on the Pearl waiting for what's next. Dropped in to the local Tmo store and asked when they were getting the 8300. He said no, it will be the 8800 with 2meg camera and get this, GPS. So that's the latest from my local Tmo guy, May 1st, 8800.

Default Who to believe?

Ha, after looking at the tech specs on the 8800 at the RIM site I'm thinking this guy must be talking about the 83xx or he really has no clue!

It defenitly sounds like the retail store guy didn't know what he was talking about. It has also been my experience that the retail channel will say what ever they want to get something sold. My RIM guy said that TMO Us will have the 8800 as a B2B only device, they are going for the 8300 in the main stream retail channel due to the Pearl's success. It was actually outselling the Sidekick, surprise surprise.

If you really want the 8800 bad, just go to Cingular, Unlock It, Remove the Logo and you're set. I did it and it works perfectly.

Long story, we wind up in her pad and lets just say she gave me a demonstration of her 8800. She also said that it will be available in "about 4 weeks". She asked me if I would like to be in a program where Tmobile test new prototypes on existing Tmobile customers. I'm signed up for that and I'm meeting her again tonight.
This sounds like one of those "letters" in one of those "magazines"? Was she Sweedish with a twin sister Hilda?

Default So what happened the next night?

Was she really a t-Mobile manager? did you push the right buttons?
Did she give you any insight into the attributes of the 8800? Whens it coming out?

We met up on Sat night too. Had dinner, drinks then we went to play with our blackberrys. This is quite a chick. Shes like a regional manager. Knows everything about the upcoming product line. Showed me a bb product which is 13 months out. Unreal. Strictly a prototype but the clarity of the screen was something. The camera was something too. It had all the goodies you talk about in one machine.

About April 23, that seems to be the date for b@b people but I'm getting mine on Friday.

Sounds good. So this is the exact same as the Cingular one then? No WiFi or camera?

What really sucks at this point is that I want GPS, but I also want a camera and WiFi. Now it looks like I'll be forced to choose:

8800 with GPS, memory card, thin form factor
8320 with camera, wifi and memory card

I'm leaning towards the 8320 I think, despite the fact that like I said, I REALLY WANT GPS.

Default TM on Apr 23 as of this past weekend

This is my first time posting here. Last weekend, I called TM to switch to Cingular with 8800. Was so disappointed by TM for quiet a while without a good handset. The supervisor told me TM 8800 version will be out in two weeks on Apr. 23. I told her that if I don't see it from TM on Apr 23, I will switch to Cingular immediately. She assured that I will not be disappointed. (BTW, I have a company phone from Cingular)

This seems to agree with what I was told by another TM call center supervisor. (I called two different times to make sure TM is not using any tactic to keep me from switching). My contact expired a long time ago.

So this is just what I was told. If it is not happening, just means being screwed by TM one more time, and the last time.

Default I got my 8800

Just came from breakfast with my new t-mobile girlfriend. She gave it to me just as she told me she would. Its black just as in the pictures and it does have GPS. Its pretty cool. Nice screen too.

She gave me this as part of the companies program to test consumer attitudes or something. If ya'll ever saw the way this regional rep was built and her girlfriend too, OMG, ya'll would sign up with t-mobile for life. These are very nice people, competent as hell and they know everything about the product line.

We are going to dinner tonight. Then I'm sure we will go play with our 8800's.
