Many people have identified this issue with the 8700x.

It seems seems either the keyboard has some movement or it's very stiff.

Not sure which is the right way and which is the hardware error but both way have their issues.

It has been mentioned on a few occasions that all new production model BB have loose keyboards because it actually helps with the typing.

I personally think that's BS...but some people prefer a loose keyboard.

I like the loose keyboard. still feels stiff enough for good response, but the keys move freely. I love the feel. I've used ths tiffer feeling key version of the 8700 as well and this is an improvement.

Mine definitely moves. It was kind of a surprise when I first got it, I kind of don't like how it slides back and forth, but it does make typing easier. I guess it gives a bit with our fingers, less stress?

The old, "It's a feature, not a defect..." line. Some people do seems to like it. I'm still not convinced this "feature" is intentional.

I'll see what my 8700g's keyboard is like on Monday.

I agree.

It remains to be seen which way is the right way - tight or loose.

I will intentionally be a pain in the arse at the store on Monday, testing out as many units as I can for a comfortable less fudgey keypad.

The keys wiggle on my actual device, but the plastic dummy model at the store had very stiff keys that were hard to press.

The wiggle makes it seem cheap.

I've noticed it too, but it probably helps with how small the keys are.

My keyboard moves too a bit, but it's alright...does anyone's "T" and "Y" keys feel like they're more inside and harder to press? I understand they're in the middle of the keyboard...but the other keys have a click to it. These don't and I'm never sure when I press them. Thx!

It seems even if you get the perfect BlackBerry, ultimately one or two things develop:
1. the trackwheel loosens up. Initially that's fine, but eventually gets to the point where it moves when you click and you thus get a different app or e-mail address.
2. the keyboard is loose. Drives some people (ok, me) nuts, but actually doesn't interfere with typing...and some above have said it even helps.

Not sure about you, but I realize the only way I can deal with these concerns is just to be less obsessive compulsive.
Easier said than done.

I just got a VZW 8703e and after a couple of days noticed the keys move up and down, particularly on the right side of the keyboard. It actually does drive me nuts, but if I try to exchange it out, they'll end up opening every box they have in the store. So, sfo, how exactly can one be less obsessive compulsive? I think I've passed that little character trait on to my son. Poor kid.

My 8703e now does that too. I'm compulsive enough that it would normally bother me. But many posts pointing out it does make typing a bit easier, along with no apparent worsening of the situation has gotten me to basically forget it.
Actually, I find the very loose trackwheel of my other BlackBerry (8700c) far more annoying.
