Smile Beiks Bible Reader

Please Login to Remove!

For those of you that have been looking for a Bible Reader, here is one that is still in development:

http://www.beiks.com/rim/bible

I am still playing with it, but it looks well done. Currently it is only "KJV", and "ASV", but other versions may be available soon.

Looks pretty cool. It takes up a lot of space though (over 1M)

Default BlackBerry Bible viewer

The Bible Viewer itself actually takes very little - about 64 kB.

You can install NT and OT separately, so the maximum required is actually half that 1 MB - it is around 500 kB.

And the content is highly compressed already...the Bible is a pretty big book, after all - you can't expect more than that from an offline solution.

I'm trying out Olive Tree's BB version. At the moment, the software seems to be a bit rougher than Beiks', but I'm hoping for good things.

Default Translations and fonts

Olive tree's reader is decent already and they have a lot more translations available today (like NIV and NASB). The thing that I like the most about the Olive Tree reader is that it supports multiple fonts, including a smaller font than default that allows a lot more information on the screen vs what Beiks' has.

Their developers are really nice too. I sent them some feedback and they actually wrote back and sent me a beta version with some fixes for what I was complaining about!

I also suspect that other features like bookmarks and a better verse selector will show up in the Olive Tree reader shortly
