I suppose .560 doesn't exist - especially for that old device.

this is a Nextel phone. i hope you're using sprint/nextel or boost mobile. its not gonna work with gsm carries like t-mobile or at&t.

You know...with the economy the way it is..using boost is a viable alternative. I have the 7100i and as old as it is, they didn't officially stop selling it until 6 months ago. This phone is better than any phone that boost is offering and better than most (non-smart) vanilla keyboard phones. This phone having smart features makes it one of the best. I have known about problem associated with this phone when installing ring tones (problem easily solved..i solved it myself and you can look up boost central in Google to see my answer and other answers to questions you may need answered).I love this phone. It syncs with outlook. You can send MMS message with a wallpaper and instantly save/use it. I have tons of java games and i am paying almost nothing for ring tones and wallpapers. This phone even surfs the net faster than using a native boost phone. So calling this phone old is kind of misleading because it has better tech than all the phones boost is selling right now including the new I465 clutch.

Hiylow I am thinking of using the 7100i on the boost mobile unlimited plan myself. Unfortunqately I am unemployed (blasted economy) ad my ATT wireless account is eating me alive with overage costs as I look for new employment. I have a 7100i that I can use on boost and I also have a google voice number so I was planning to use the google voice website for my sms. Just how fast is the internet access using the 7100i? Is it reasonable? (subjective I know, but I'd like it to be AT LEAST as fast as a dialup plan) Thanks for any tips you may have.

Rather than mess with a cut-rate/cut-service carrier like Boost, consider switching from AT&T to Sprint. That's what I did, and my monthly bill went from $104 to $55, with the same plan features.

Of course network coverage is critical in a decision like this. A bargain rate is no bargain at all if you can't get a signal. But for me Sprint's coverage is AT LEAST equal to AT&T's, probably better. And $55/month for 450 minutes and unlimited BIS + unlimited messaging & data is tough to beat. My local rep set me up with a small monthly discount for being in "government employment." I'm not really, but he figured I could use a $15 discount each month. And if you're collecting unemployment, isn't that like working for the government? After all, they're paying you. Tell the rep you do some consulting for the local Police Department. You can claim to "audit their parking structure", which just means you walk around their parking lot looking at stuff.

Why do you think it is a SMS text message?

At the top of the SMS message would be a person's name (if they are in your Address Book, or a phone number.

What is at the top of your message?

If you choose "reply" to the message, it should show who you are replying to.

There is only the date @ the top "Sep 21, 2009 7:51:47 PM" That's it. I've never had the option to "reply" and if there is no signature attached to the text, I have no idea who it's from!

On a 7100, you would click the trackwheel, and what options do you see?

eh, ok, so it is non-reply number.

IF it is a SMS message, your carrier billing might be able to tell you from what number it originated. Sounds like it might have been a spam or mass produced SMS, which may have NO phone number connected to it.
