Rather than mess with a cut-rate/cut-service carrier like Boost, consider switching from AT&T to Sprint. That's what I did, and my monthly bill went from $104 to $55, with the same plan features.
Of course network coverage is critical in a decision like this. A bargain rate is no bargain at all if you can't get a signal. But for me Sprint's coverage is AT LEAST equal to AT&T's, probably better. And $55/month for 450 minutes and unlimited BIS + unlimited messaging & data is tough to beat. My local rep set me up with a small monthly discount for being in "government employment." I'm not really, but he figured I could use a $15 discount each month. And if you're collecting unemployment, isn't that like working for the government? After all, they're paying you.
Tell the rep you do some consulting for the local Police Department. You can claim to "audit their parking structure", which just means you walk around their parking lot looking at stuff.
