Default 8700 (gsm) 4.2.1.163/4.2.1.101

Please Login to Remove!

I noticed that Proximus has a new OS version for the 8700.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.163 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.2.1.163
Applications: 4.2.1.101
Software Platform: 2.3.0.81

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E38BBE070EC3F5

Instructions for installing:
This OS will work on any GSM/GPRS/EDGE 8700c/g/v/f/r

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.2 SP2.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Good find! Stuck the thread and added instructions for installation.

This is a stable OS version on the other models. I recommend this upgrade to those having issues with the earlier versions.

Default Upgrade Problem?

Okay, I have done upgrades many times, ran into a new one now, when going to upgrade I get the error The application "Browser" can not be loaded, because it requires the following applications that are not available:

net.rim.blackberry.xml

I can assure you I have searched for the file, can't find it and definitely did not delete it?

I did edit the BlackBerry.alx file deleting all Vendors for themes, did I mess somthing up there? Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I went back and redid the editing on the .alx file, that was it, don't know what I deleted before by mistake but all is well now.

Default Problems after loading upgrade to Blackberry Handheld Software for CDMA 8703e

Hi Guys,

I recently upgraded my blackberry to allow use of Tevnav to Blackberry Handheld Software for CDMA 8703e version 4.1.0.384. Prior to that I could pull up Weather\Traffic and go to Weatherbug and The Weather Channel. I now receive errors on each of these links. On Weatherbug I receive "Unsupported Media Type: text / x-hdml and on The Weather Channel I get HTTP Error 404:Not Found.

Going to Accuweather still works.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Coy

Default Major Software Issue

When using os 4.2 on BB8700

When dialing a phone number and inserting the headset and unplugging the headset the device resets. This also happens on the BB8100 os 4.2.

Is this true with the latest 4.2.1.101 version?

I just installed this version and it seems to be a little "zippier" to be, as far as menus and programs opening.

Where can I find the latest version of T-mobile. On their website they still have the 0.346 version. Would like to find their .91 version.

Cheers

EDIT: Got it from their website - looks like they just updated it.
