Default BB Maps

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

This is probably a newbie question, but I am having trouble using blackberry maps, i have downloaded the application onto my blackberry curve 8310 but whenever I open the application all I see is a green square with black diagonal lines. This is even after I have aquired satelite link.

Am I missing something.

Do you have a data plan? Need to have one in order to view the maps.

You need a BlackBerry dataplan. And since I don't think it uses a tcp socket connection and uses BIS for its connection, I don't think just any cheap data plan will work. You must have a BB dataplan.

You do not need a BB data plan, I have the iPhone data plan and it works just fine.

The version that's mentioned in the xml file just hides the icon. If you download the newest one from the web site and install it, it works just fine. Or you can remove the line from xml and it shows up again. I am using an 8310 on AT&T and use BB maps all the time. It works like a charm!

Maybe it is just me, but I thought that was the case to. I went to the BB mobile website last night and got to the page that said BB Maps was not available to AT&T customers. So, I proceeded to go through the menu and download the app and it installed it on my 8310. It works great and I am using it on my AT&T BB.

Anyone else able to do this?

It works for me too,

My only gripe with BB Maps, it doesn't seem to update my location on the map after I set the driving direction.

Try Nav4All - Free gps navigation for your mobile phone!, it is my fav navigation apps so far

When I haf my 8700c it would never let me down load the app. But it was pretty simple install. I will try nav4all. Thanks for the suggestion.

On my 8100, BB Maps worked fine, however on my 8120 it reports "You do not have BIS" and does nothing after that. I am on BES, but have also set up other accounts?????????
