Default Good Car Holder Out Yet?

Please Login to Remove!

I upgraded from a 7290 and was using a car holder from proclipusa.com that was custom-fitted to my BB. (I hate those cheesy universal mounts.) So far, proclip doesn't offer a mount for the 8700 (I've e-mailed and asked when they will), but does anyone know of a good custom car mount yet?

Pro-Clip e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago. The told me that they would have the clip for the 8700 available in "Late December." Even if that date slips a bit, it is certainly worth waiting for.

I agree, their stuff is worth the wait.

I got an e-mail from them today. No promise of 'late December', just that they will e-mail me when they are ready.

Thanks for the info, and I agree their stuff is worth waiting for. Odd, I e-mailed 'em and asked when an 8700 holder would be out and never heard from 'em...

Not familiar with akron, Dawg. Can you share any details about the car holder yet? Any release date known yet?

The site proclipusa.com does not have a holder for the 7100i. Dawg, can you provide a website for the akron?

I found the link: http://www.arkon.com/blackberrymount.php Looks good. I like the first one on the top left as I am not going to use it in more than one car.

Has anyone else ever used these arkon mounts? I am looking for one for the 8700c and they claim that these mounts will fit it, so I might give it a shot. I will probably pickup one of the suction cup mounts since I will switch it between my cars. And for $20 you can't complain!

Okay, gotta admit that I just checked the car-mounts on this link and they appear to be the "universal" type to me, rather than custom-made for each BB model. Also, I really like proclip's streamlined mount-to-dash style, rather than a "tentacle" extending from a window or the floorboard...

Probably just me cuz I'm anal-retentive but my rusty old 4Runner's dash width doesn't really work with a window mount, either.

Anyone know of any other source yet, aside from Akron or ProClip? Honestly, I've been toying with the idea of modifying my old ProClip 7290 mount, but it's just a wee bit too wide for the 8700 (about .2 inches, to be exact), and I can't figure out a way to jury-rig it very well, except for resorting to strips of the handyman's secret weapon: duct tape

Once you use a ProClip, nothing else will do.

I have had them for my Kyocera 7135, my 7230 and my 7100t. I'll wait the wait til they have the ProClip ready for the 8700. Can't be toooooo much longer...why settle?

Okay, so it's not just me I agree they're worth the wait.

I just e-mailed proclipusa for the second time, asking when/if an 8700 holder will be out. Hopefully, they'll get back to me and, if so, I'll post their comments here...

I check their website twice a day.

I also want to get a holder for my new 60g iPod Video, but want to save some on the shipping by getting both at the same time.

Just got the following from proclip. Not exactly informative, but at least I know they're listening/working on something...

Hi CJ,
This is a 2 part solution. 1 vehicle mount that is specific to your car, and then one to your device holder. The device holder for the 8700 is not in yet. I will email you a soon as it is. Thank you and have a splendid day.

Pretty much the same response I have gotten from Dee in the past (twice now). He/she claims to have me on a list to e-mail when the holders are available.
