let's all call RIM and demand a recall of the mysterious 8703e until they can cram a core duo in there with HT and then the 8703e will have a battery life of 17 minutes and get so hot that battery door slowly fuses itself to the inside of our pockets. I was hung up opn this myself halfway back through this thread but really, we're all gonna buy it no matter what proccessor it has, who are we kidding???

Actually, VZW at one point had a few phones, one being a Nokia phone (forgot the model), that has a R-UIM slot, though VZW never use that feature on the phone as far as I know.

More about R-UIM here:

One of the Beta testers reported on this forum that in fact some of the keys were rounded. Said, compared to the 8700c, that it made the keys feel more separated. That's a good thing.

You'll need Desktop 4.2 and OS 4.2 to load them.
Until OS 4.2 is released, you can always browse and d/l your mp3 tones.

No it doesen't, it means you can download the app through "Get it Now" which is what VzW uses , i was glad that it should have the Get it Now features from verizon, unlike the 7250 which you cannot access Get it Now. not just IM'ing also, Get it now is like the fun center for verizon, ringtones, all kinds of applications, including im'ing, wallpapers etc etc. It's all gravy.

do blackberries come with the holster thing that turns the screen off?
It should come with the holster that the other 87XX have.

I too can't wait for this. suretype is really getting on my nerves (7130e).

this is pretty funny, i really wanted to do this to my xv6700 however put it on craigslist and to my suprise sold in about one day.

As far as the chipset goes, i've decide im going to get the phone no matter what, first of im using a flip LG right now waiting for my xv 6700 replacement which will probably be the Blackberry 8703e.

Second I am not going with the tmobile for this phone. Im in chicago, which is the 3rd largest city, and tmobile has bad reception in my friends house and a couple of other places where verizon and cingular work great.

Finally cingular was a consideration until I saw the data plan. it would cost me 79.99 to use 87xx for internet, email, and tethering. where the verizon is only 44.99 or 49.99 for data and you could use it for everything including tethering.

im glad i got that off my chest, oh and verizons allow you 15 days with the phone anyway. so i mean if you ordered it online had it for 10 days and felt like the phone had horrible processing speed, you could return it

You understand that you Do not Know a Thing about a Thing? And that your word means nothing to anyone, and that you are wrong once again? And by the way October=11, not 8. No hard feelings buddy, but when your wrong, your wrong, gotta accept that.

I got my eval unit after I signed the NDA, I also pre-ordered 5 units from my acct exec on 8/28, three of the order were received today, two other on their way. They all came from TX as usual, Fedex.

Because my NDA still in effect, I am not going to show you pix of the package, so take it for whatever's its worth, and I am a B2B customer.

Botton line is, I really don't think you know what you are talking about here.
