I am looking into getting a Blackberry mainly to keep track of school life as well a number of people at work are really getting into it and seeing as how I have to replace my cell anyways I thought this may be a good way to go.

I did have a couple questions though if someone has the time...

1. Can a Blackberry sync to a Mac
2. When you sync (either Mac or PC) can you upload any picture/file you want?
3. Does the 7130g have to be on a cradle to deactivate the screen or does it work like a regular cell phone (that would be ideal)?
4. I only want the Data Plan for sending msgs to other Blackberry users - would a 1/4 of a mb of data per month cover this? (it would be very minimal msg'ing)
5. Is there any other "smart phone" out there that would be great for organization that I am missing - some people have recommended a Treo because it has the MS Office suite on it but I like the look of the Blackberry more so any suggestions on that?

Thanks a lot all

P.S. Most cell phones keep track of your minutes used, does a Blackberry show you how much data you've used lately?

1 - yes via pocketmac
2 - no
3 - not sure what you mean by deactivate the screen, the screen times out after X amount of seconds, whatever you set X to be, if that's what your asking.
4 - probably not a 1/4 mb. If you can find a plan with 1/4 mb data that would be quite the acheivment.
5 - treo's freeze up and you have to constantly reset them, up to you if you want that headache or not.

p.s. no but I believe there is a program in the 'Aftermarket Software' thread that will allow you to do such

That helps quite a bit actually - from what i've seen I love the Blackberry but just want to be sure before getting myself into something so thanks for the response.

P.S. I live in Saskatchewan, CA and at our Roger's Wireless cell booth i was given a pamphlet that has "1/4MB Data (3 cents additional KB) for $3 a month" and I know that is very low, but I would honestly send about 20 msg's a month if that.

Thanks again

That plan wont work with a blackberry. You need a bb specfic plan, which start at $25/month if i remember correctly.

You can't sync pictures to your Blackberry from your Mac, but you can email them and save them on the BB that way.

lol I swear to you all it starts at 1/4 MB data - go and grab the Roger's Wireless Essentials and Value Packs pamphlet from one of their booths and check it out for yourselves - something else i've thought of!

If I mainly want the data to PIN other BB, the Roger's guy was saying as long as I have some data plan, that PIN's are unlimited and my data is only going to be used up when I access e-mail/webpages/etc etc

Does anyone (on the Roger's network) know if this is true!?
It would be great :D haha

Thanks again all
