For those of you that haven't jumped on this great BT headset. Lowest price I've seen.

Not a bad price for that model. I have heard of some issues however that it will drop connection.

After reading more of the threads on this forum and a few after a Google search, it seems there are a couple issues. The dropped calls and the call clarity when on the road or in a higher background noise situation. I do alot of traveling in my job via the car so now I'm cautious about this one. I am currently using the Jabra 250v which I love the call clarity but it gets tiresome on my ear after awhile. My trip from Cincinnati to St Louis I can't keep that thing in there. The size of the 640 really appealed to me but not with the negatives associated with it.

Any suggestions? I really don't see a clear winner in what's currently out there.

I have tried a couple of different ones. The two that I primarily liked were the HS850 and the HS500. both Motorola. I like the 850 because of the foldable boom that would instantly compact the size and put it in to standby mode. The 500 however, is extremely lightweight and uses a similar charger (USB head) The talk time and range were nearly identical, 8hr talk time and a 30+/- foot range. However, the 850 had noise canceling issues. People would always ask me, "Are you in the car?" I dont get that with the 500.

It also fits my ear better than the 850. The boom on the 850 would constantly move around on my ear. It always felt like it was going to fall off. I have never had that problem with my 500.

It looks like most shops are clearing inventory for the new 645. Same form factor but w/ DSP.

Does the 500 have ear gels or just rest on your ear? I had a Moto that looked similiar a while back and it just rested on my ear and was hard to hear.

I just got the 640 and it is a heck of alot better than the moto hs850. The 850 seem to "clip" all the time when I was talking to customers. The 640 does not seem to do that quite as often and much more clear. i was a doe hard moto fan for headsets now I have changed my thoughts on that. If you get it, you won't be disappointed.

Plantronics says late March for the 645. Has anyone seen the real thing yet?
