Default 645 vs. JX10

Please Login to Remove!

I use a 640 most of the time, but I would like to have DSP. I am trying to decide between the Plantronics Discovery 645 and the Jabra JX10.

Anyone tried or looked at both? Size comparison? Battery? I understand that you can buy gels and use the Jabra with gels?

Any comments that would be helpful are appreciated...

I've used both the 640 and JX10 and prefer the JX10.

-Size wise the JX10 seems slightly larger.
-Battery life is the same.
-The JX10 is more comfortable
-Love the desktop cradle of the JX10
-The 640 hurt my ear when worn for extended periods. The JX10 does not.

You'll probably be happy with either one and it'll come down to personal taste. Performance wise they're very similar.

OK, can you use the Jabra without the earhook? Will the Jabra gels fit it?

I use the JX-10 everyday without the earhook, although I could see where this may not work for everyone because of ear shape. It works very well for me and has never fallen out.
I have never had the need to try the earjels but I have read that some people were able to get them to work, but I'm not sure if they fit naturally or must be glued on.

Go over to howardforums and do a search on the JX10. 99% of the people who bought it returned it, including me. Probably the most overpriced, overhyped POC on the market.

Do yourself a favor, save the money and buy a good headset - there are plenty with less "sizzle" but much better quality.

I guess I fall into that 1%.

Oh and so does K-Mack.

It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience with the JX-10. For me, it is the best headset I have ever used. I keep expecting to find something wrong but it just hasnt happened, and it's performance has been outstanding in ALL aspects. I agree the price is a little high, but many of the cheaper ones were all lacking in one area or another.
The JX-10 rocks! (Thanks Greenberg).

I returned my JX10 because it did not fit my ear with the ear clip. I tried without the clip but did not work for my ear. I wear it on my right ear and I did not like that the volume + key was on the bottom and volume - key on top. I am sure I would get used to it. I am back to using my Discovery 645.

I never adjust the volume, I set it to max and leave it there, so the location of the volume is insignificant to me.
