I was having the same problem as well. it would take forever to send and receive my messages if at all when i first downloaded it a couple of days ago. but today i haven't had any problems at all if anything it faster i was messing with my girlfriend and not a second after i hit send her BB was going off

Oh, I posted in another thread that I seem to have fixed this by re-registering with the network. The sticky about messenger 5.0 said to try this.

Hi guys, I have a question: I just bought an unlocked used blackberry from AT&T and im going to use it with Rogers. I was told by Rogers that they will not give me a PIN since this BB is originally from AT&T. So I have 2 questions:

1. Is it possible to use BBM without having a PIN and just add friends VIA their emails?

2. If this Blackberry is unlocked would the PIN be erased from the "options>status" window? and if not, would that PIN be valid??

Also:

3. Is there any way i would be able to get a new PIN (assuming all of the above fail) and i am unable to get it released from the original BB owner from AT&T

(I have yet to recive this BB but im trying to figure out my BBM situation, because that's what i was most excited about )

Thank you!

Feature seems to work adequately enough. I found that its not necessary for folks to dl the actual image files given by some members here. Simply load up BBM(5), goto add contact, select scan barcode, and just point your blackberry at the image on the monitor. It picked up 'Tommy' (from the initial post) perfectly fine

Save it as a Jpeg file

FYI ... I have moved all the barcodes to the "Looking For Blackberry Messenger Buddies" here. Please keep this thread to the discussion of the BBM 5 barcode feature.

Just as an FYI, it's not a bar code, it is a QR code.

So I found some cool things about this QR code scanning. It's using the ZXING platform from google which is really good. But something cool is that they didn't remove some of the scanning features.

It still has the ability to recognize the following and give you options.

BBM - Obiously add a BBM contact.
URL - Asks you if you want to open the URL and will in the browser.
Phone Number - Gives you the option to call the number.
Geo Location - Lets you open the location in the Blackberry Maps app!
Email - Opens a compose email to the email address encoded in the QR code.

You can test these out using the zxing QR code generator here QR Code Generator

A tad annoying that I'd have to go into BBM and add new contact, then to the scanning just to get to the scanner. I really hope they just add in a built-in QR code scanner application soon! PLEASE RIM, you're almost there! :D

Question

Barcode is supposed to be multi-use right? I'm trying to setup a group chat room and I'm getting reports of "Invitation has expired or has already been used".

If not, is there a way to setup a multi-use barcode?
