The Tier 2 tech worked with me for about 1.5 hours last night and he's stumped. He's been doing Blackberrys for about 1.5 years and has never had this problem before. He read thru this thread and Blackberry's support database and still can't come up with anything.
We tried clearing the event log, setting a calendar event to go off and then checked the event log after the scheduled time for errors with no luck. We tried to go to RIM support but it seems that you have to go to Tier 3 before you can go to RIM support and Tier 3 was closed. We have a time call set up for 6:00 (ET) tonight to go to Tier 3.
On a side note - I really have to give credit to this customer service rep. He's only a teenager, works for a 3rd party call center operator and does not seem to care how long he spends on a call helping a customer as long as the problem is fixed. He provides callers with his e-mail for follow ups, returns e-mails and makes outbound calls when you have a problem. I wish Nextel had more reps with the dedication of this person.

I've been dealing with the same problem for months. I am on BIS, and I sync with Novell GroupWise, so I don't think it's an Outlook thing. I've tried a wipe, re-sending service books numorous times, deleted third party software, I even deleted the entire contents with java loader and did a fresh load. Nothing has worked. If you find a solution, please let us know.

We did it, we found the problem It's in the e-mail service books. Did a application reload and had my reminders. Resent my service books and lost the pop up. Deleted out the service books and it was fine again. RIM rep asked if I had any MSN accounts on the BIS and I do have a Hotmail account. Deleted the account from the BIS, resent the service books and the pop ups stayed. RIM rep said that MSN did an update about a month ago and other 3rd party vendors have been having problems since then.

Thank You!! I've got my reminders back. I was just about ready to throw the thing out a window. Microsoft strikes again.

Glad it worked for you. To make it easy for outhers here is the step by step directions:
- Log into your carriers BIS page and delete any / all MSN (Hotmail) accounts you have
- On your BB remove all the service books for all your e-mail accounts.
- From your carriers BIS page resend yourself the service books
- Do a hard reset (battery pull).
This should give you back your calendar pop ups. Those of you that have the problem, let me know how you make out. PIN me, e-mail me or post your results here as I still have an open ticket for the problem with RIM for follow up.

The problem came back - Yesterday morning at 6:00 I had my calendar pop ups but when a 7:15 event came up all I got was the sound. All I had done in the 1.25 hours was add a meeting in November and did a sync.
As I still had an open ticket with RIM I called them direct and we worked for well over an hour removing databases, removing service books and reloading the OS. What we landed up doing is reloading the OS then doing a sync without syncing the calendar and everything was fine. This led both myself and RIM to think that there was corrupted data in my calendar file in Office 2007 and it was causing the pop ups not to work.
This morning I removed all the entries from Office Calendar and then added a few for the upcoming week. After that I did a sync and everything appears to work.

Thanks for all the updates. Sorry the MSN thing didn't provide a permanent fix. I hope deleting your calendar entries works, but what a PITA. It will be interesting to see if that permanently fixes it.
As a P.S., I have had sync problems when I went into a calendar entry "notes" section and "Insert"ed a contact card. I finally removed all the contact links and it fixed it. That's the only fix I've ever been able to make by changing my Outlook records, and I feel they are IntelliSync or Blackberry issues.
Again, good luck and thanks for the updates!!

Well the problem still goes on. Now it is being looked at by the BlackBerry Handheld Escalation Team at RIM and they can't seem to find a cause.
They think it might be related to one of the third party applications that I run but they can't narrow it down to which one. I removed the one application that I had that used the calendar and pop ups (Pocket Day Lists) and still had the problem. Now I've taken out all the third party applications (Jive Talk, Grid Magic and Spider Solitaire) and only left Mapquest Navigator there. I know that Jive Talk does use pop ups and I did find that if I did not enable the pop up option in JT I could not get my calendar pop ups. I am going to try and run a few days without JT and see what happens.
RIM has loaded a copy of my back up onto a unit there and can not seem to duplicate the problem.

Same problems here. I reloaded the OS and it worked for a few days. I also tried deleting all 3rd party apps except for beyond 411 search and BB weather. Not sure how these could cause problems.

Jon -
Been working with RIM for almost 2 months. Even went as far as swapping out my unit and still have the problem. We think we have the problem narrowed down to something in Outlook. I uploaded my pst file from Outlook to RIM tonight for a tech to look at but everything is looking towards Outlook.
I'll post here what I find out.

I deleted my hotmail from my blackberry, and I got my reminders back for a couple days, then they quit again. So I deleted my yahoo mail and gmail as well, and I've had my reminders working consistently for over a month. I think it has something to to with BIS.

Last night I deleted a few service book entries after looking over various threads. I deleted Telenav (I don't use it), and two IM service books (don't use those either), I think AIM and probably Yahoo, but not sure. After I deleted these at the same time and rebooted, I got reminders back and emails auto open after removing from the holster like normal. Hopefully it will last.

After replacing the handheld, still having the the problem and all kinds of testing with RIM and not getting anywhere I landed up sending them my PST file from Outlook. After they loaded my PST file into Outlook they were able to recreate the problem so it seems that my PST file was corrupted.

A month and a half later the problem seem to be back so I have to assume that the PST file is corrupted again. It seems when there is a problem with this file it does not effect anything that the average MS Office user would see so half the world might have a corrupted PST file.
Anyone here have enough MS experience to know what might cause this file to corrupt?

Well it happened again! It seems that if you enter an event that spans over 2 days (work starts at 3:00 PM on Saturday and ends at 2:30 AM Sunday) caused the pop ups to stop working. After deleting the cross day entry the pop ups came back.
