Default Reminders not showing - 7100i

Please Login to Remove!

I am using a 7100i with 4.1 software and notice that I am not getting the pop up reminders for calendar events but I am getting the sound.

I'm using Office 2007, not on an Enterprise server and am using DM 4.2 on the advice of Nextel to sync. Default reminder is set to 15 minutes on the BB and I even tried removing all calendar events with DM and reloading them.

I saw the 2007 Office patch but that only works with OS 4.2. Any ideas?

Mike

Battery pull? You probably did that already though.

I know that this is a fix for the 8830 but it worked perfect on my 7100i!

I read the instructions in the link and I has two problems, 1st Nextel only offers 4.1 software and secondly, I'm only on BIS and do not have the service books they say to remove.

Default DST et.al.

Here's a link to a place where you can get the DST patch for your Nextel phone. There is a long list of 4.0. and 4.1. releases it will patch.

I have a 7100i as well, and I've had times when reminders quit showing up. Installing the patch fixed mine. You might also resend and recheck the Service books. I believe the only one with a CID of CICAL should be Desktop.

Are you just having problems with the entries you create in your PIM (Outlook, Notes, etc) or just your Blackberry or both?

I would have to say that they are all or mostly ones entered using Outlook as I enter very little data directly into my BB.

I am going to check out the link and install the DST patch tonight.

As a side note - I did have pop ups yesterday but lost them today and from what I can remember, all I did was add a new e-mail account to my BIS and did a hard reboot before I lost them.

Update
I installed the DST patch, the only patch I could find for my OS and it still does not work. But now that I look at my applications list I do not see the DST patch listed. I'm going to download it OTA now.

The 2007 DST Patch should show above "About" in your "Options" list.

Sorry, between starting a new job last week and an industry trade show this past weekend, BBF has not been that high on my priority list. After I installed the DST patch I did a hard reboot and both the patch showed up and so did the pop up reminders.

Thanks for the help!

I may have spoken too soon. Last night I noticed that I had not been getting MMS messages for over 24 hours. Worked with Nextel doing all the normal stuff, battery pull, master radio reset, reregister on the system, resend service books and the Nextel rep did his magic on his end and we finally got it working.

This morning I noticed that again I was not getting the pop ups for the calendar items. I had to do a master radio reset and reregister on the system and it seemed to fix everything for now.

I give up! Everything worked fine yesterday and now I can't get the pop ups again today.

DST patch is installed, did a battery pull, did a master radio reset and still no pop ups. I'm not about to do a wipe and reload every day.

If you are using BIS and not BES or the Desktop Redirector, look for any [CICAL] Service Books. Again, if you are using BIS (NOT BES OR THE DESKTOP REDIRECTOR), you do not need any Desktop Service Books. You may have Desktop [CICAL] and Desktop [CMIME]. If you meet the redundant requisites from above, delete them and give it a try. They are both used for Redirector and not needed for BIS. Let us know what happens.

There are no CICAL or Desktop service books there.

I'm out of ideas. Unless someone else can think of something I think it's time for a call to Nextel Support. They will probably give you some things to try. If they don't work, call back and they will probably hook you up with RIM. RIM will give you a case number and a call back number and they will work with you until it's fixed. They are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I already tried Nextel support and they told me that because Outlook is a 3rd party application they have nothing to do to with it. Called RIM and they sent me back to Nextel.

Yeah, you can't call RIM directly. You have to get a Nextel rep to transfer you to them. RIM will ask for the Nextel rep's name and number and then they will help you. It doesn't sound as if the problem is with Outlook. It may be IntelliSync (which Nextel should support since it's part of the Desktop Manager) or the 7100i. You can set a reminder in Outlook, sync and then look to see if the reminder is set on the 7100i. If not, you haven't really proven anything, but if it is, and it doesn't popup, you'll know it's the device.

Anyway, call Nextel and insist that if they can't answer your problem, which you know is a device or Desktop Manager problem, that they connect you to RIM support. Let them know that you have called before and your problem was not solved.

Thanks, I just sent an e-mail to the Tier 2 rep that got my text messaging working for me. I gave him a link to this thread so I'll see what he has to say.
